re: Bridal shower schedule

Does anyone know if there is proper etiquette about how late or early a bridal shower is suppose to held.  My bridal party was planning it 3 weeks before the wedding.  Others were saying that's too late and should be earlier.  Anyone have any ideas??

Re: re: Bridal shower schedule

  • I think 3 weeks is fine. Plus, it's mostly up to the hostesses and when they are able to plan it.

  • Generally they're about 2 months before the wedding.I think three weeks is cutting it a little close, especially if you have OOT guests that are planning to travel.  It's also nice to spread out the financial burden for people buying gifts a little bit, IMO.  But if they've already booked a place, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

  • Mine was two weeks before my wedding. You are good.

  • I had my 1st shower in mid August because that's was worked for FI's aunt that was so gracious to host. My second shower is Oct. 25th because, yet again, my MOH decided that was the best day for her.
  • Most of the showers I have been to have been about a month to a month and a half from the wedding.  But if 3 weeks is what works for your bridal party then I say it is fine.
  • Traditional etiquette is that it should be held within 8 weeks and 2 weeks before the wedding. So your timing is perfect.
  • My shower was 3 months out.  That was the only time I was going to be in town. I say have it whenever it is a good time for the hosts and you.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I've heard of showers as early as 4 months out and as late as the day before the wedding. People are busy, and they have demanding schedules. If you have a date that works, go with it.
  • There were several showers given, the last was in late July.  September wedding
  • mine was 4 weeks before the wedding and about 75% of the guests showed. no one said anything about the date of it being weird.
