I know they suck hardcore, but I was watching the Today Show this morning and apparently, Jon Gosselin (sp?) EMPTIED the joint bank account he had with Kate of over $250K and left her with a little less than $1000. Apparently this was the ONLY liquid money they had. Kate was crying and said that now she has a purse full of bills that she can't pay. WTF! I know they need to just go away, but what is WRONG with him? He's gone off the deep end.

A lot of people do this to stop the other person from spending it. She still has tons of money. this was only 200k in a joint account. They have their own accounts. If jon spends it, then he's a jerk. If he is simply protecting it from her spending it so it can be split at the divorce, then I don't judge him.

He needs to realize that he's just a washed up dad of 6 kids and NOT Mick Jagger. He needs to stop partying at the Hard Rock Hotel like he's got an endless supply of money. I know she wasn't perfect. But he's the definition of Dee Bag.

For as much sympathy as he got from people at the beginning because of how Kate bossed him around, etc...he is losing any compassion I may have felt very quickly. What I think is funny is that he's the one who jumps at every chance to say he has his kids' best interest in mind. How is galavanting with multiple women, partying in Vegas, and trashing your kids' mom on national tv even remotely good for your kids???

When FI and I first saw this show - when it first aired - there was a point 5 minutes into the episode when we both turned to one another and said, "Damn, they HATE each other." I think there have always been problems in their relationship, but this is the perfect example of why families should not do reality shows. Although I have to say that I LOVE the Little People Big World family. They all seem so down to earth and put together. But it really is sad that the Gosselin kids are going through this. How embarrassing.

I don't feel sorry for any of them any more. Hardly even the children...because even they are old enough now to know this show is doing none of them any good. And just what are the kids supposed to do about it? They're five and nine. I feel more sorry for the kids at this point than I ever have. The majority of them- if not all of them- will be negatively affected by this whole debacle. It's hard enough dealing with one kid f*cked up from a messy divorce, but six- that's gonna be a shiit-ton of therapy.

He is a dbag but I think one of the things that got me most was the fact they knew they couldn't provide for these kids when they had them. She outright said "when we had the sextuplets, we couldn't afford it" essentially. So it brings up a whole other ethical or personal responsibility debate. I'm more inclined to think he is being the dbag in this case but there are 2 sides to every story so who knows. But I agree with pp that they need to actually focus on their kids.But if they don't do the show, they can't afford to provide for them. A whole different debate...

All I know is she appears to be taking the highroad in the media - she is not trash talking him at every opportunity. She is out there trying to find ways to make money for the family on her own outside of the J&K+8 show. What the hell is he doing?

I just think it's crazy that they air their dirty laundry in public like this. I mean really. People have no shame. I heart GMA and in particular Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts. Last week they were doing a tease for a storyline about Jon saying no more tv show for the kids, and they said while crossing their fingers, Could this be the end of Jon and Kate Plus 8? Please?

I can't imagine any "right reason" for emptying out an account that had a court order not to touch it. If he did have any fears or concerns, there are legal ways to address it. I AM surprised that that money wasn't put into some sort of account that required both parties to sign off on any withdrawal, but even though I've been through a divorce, it went smoothly and I don't know exactly how such things are handled.

Personally I think if she loved and cared for her kids like she claims to, she would shut her big fat mouth and get the hell off of the television. She is a nurse, she can go back to working like the rest of us. Im sure along with Jons help, (child support) she could support the kids comfortably. I have no sympathy for her, I think she is a liar and an opportunist.

We were visiting with our friends with triplets this weekend talking about this. Apparently there have been studies done that have shown that for multiples greater than 3 the marriage has an almost 0% success rate. It's kinda sad.

I realize they could have afforded "one more" after the twins and didn't "plan" on sextuplets. So here is the ethical/personal responsibility question. Knowing the risk of multiple births (assuming anywhere from twins up to 6 or 8), if you can only afford ONE more, do you say "We can't take the financial risk of having multiples" and look at say, adoption or surrogacy? Or do you selectively reduce fetuses? Or say "well, let's just stay with what we have? (the twins)" They shouldn't have had 6 more kids if they couldn't afford them at that moment.

I saw a preview for a show on tonight (not sure what entertainment show it is), and nancy grace is grilling jon about stuff, and they are asking him to confirm rumours. He got very defensive and uncomfortable when they asked if he reversed his vasectomy. Shifty eyes and all.

Ahh.. Pirata, I get what you're saying. I didn't understand the original point you were trying to make. Not sure about that though! Somehow they made it work without adoption and abortion. I do get your point though. It's hard to consider it from that perspective when you see them now relatively happy and healthy.

So they should have asked themselves--worst case scenario is we have 6 kids, can we afford that? If the answer was no, they should have considered a different fertility treatment, other options to have one child if that was what they could afford, or decided to have no more children. I had neighbors who had twins. She had a 1 in 90 chance I think, of having twins and did. They would have liked to have had one more child. But having already had a multiple birth, her chances of having twins or triplets with the second pregnancy tripled. So they decided not to have any more children. My neighbors made what I thought is a responsible choice. The Gosselins did not.

But having already had a multiple birth, her chances of having twins or triplets with the second pregnancy tripled. So they decided not to have any more children. Completely agree with you here. Knowing you already had multiples, the responsible thing is to ask yourself if you can afford more children and how many? If you can't afford more sets of multiples, don't take the chance. A-freaking-men.

Exactly, shannon. I think their situation (and Octomom) raises several questions about fertility treatments, moral/ethical decisions and personal responsibilty. But that is for a whole different debate/thread. The rest of this situation with those two goons (the Gosselins) is a travesty, but they did it to themselves. Group therapy for all!
