Flower girl dresses or tutu's?

So I'm thinking we should at least start looking for the flower girls dresses. But here is the problem (I think) FI's brother has 5 kids (i know) and well his brother was so honored we wanted his 2 daughters to be our flower girls. One is 5 and other one is 4 (i think) well anyways... with a parent with 5 children we totally understand that looking for an expensive dress way be out of question because every penny they make they need for their children. FI's wouldn't hear of NOT having his girls in the wedding. So what I'm trying to get to is where can I can a really cute pretty dress but won't blow the budget out the door? I want the girls to be fairies. FI and I will be paying for the accessories, but the dresses is all depending on the cost. FMIL thinks that because we are having dark colors that it may be more expensive to get. We want a black dress with a red sash or a tutu since they will be fairies (I have the wings already which are black & red) So what price range would all of this fall? Where can we get the most for our buck? DT? online? TIA!

Is anyone crafty with the sewing? You can buy a cute pattern and make the dresses yourself (or who ever is good with the sewing machine). Also, look after the holidays because the girls holiday dresses will be on clearance at department stores.

if you like the fairy/tutu idea, look at a dance supply store.. either discount dance supply or dance supply warehouse. if you google them they both have websites and are located in so cal. one is actually in the o.c. i've ordered from them before (back when i danced) and they've always been great..

I saw photos of a spring wedding where the flower girls were in tutus and converse sneakers. It was so cute!Tutus are incredibly easy to make and pretty inexpensive, as well. You could just buy netting in whatever color(s) you need.  Since they're little, it doesn't require a lot of material. For the tops, I'm sure you could find some cute and inexpensive ones at Old Navy, Target, Children's Place, etc. in red or black.

Thanks Ladies. I REALLY like the tutu idea with converse :P great mental pic! FMIl sews, maybe is something she could come up. I'll have to compare prices. FI also thought of renting a dress....since the girls will NEVER wear them again.

I've been researching affordable flower girls as well, since my brother, sister in law & their 2 girls are going to be in the wedding, I know it's going to add up. I am not buying anything till Jan, since they are still growing but I did find a lot of affordable dresses online through jcpenney.com and http://www.mygirldress.com/ I am debating on the tutu idea as well, this etsy seller has some for $20 http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5701203Also have you checked for dresses in the Santee Alley, they may have some nice ones too.

What a cute idea about the tutus. What about going to downtown LA to take a look? I got my daughter a flower girl dress this past July for about $28.00 bucks (it was on sale) at www.FlowerGirlDressForLess.com
