Ok so one of my coworkers is getting married next month. They totally followed the etiquette rules and didn't include any registry info. Now I'm ravishing the internet looking for where they are registered. The problem is we are only coworkers, I mean I love the guy! But we aren't hang-out-outside-of-work friends. So I don't know any of his friend & family. I don't know any of his fiancee's friends or family - heck I haven't even met her yet! I feel awkward asking him where they are registered. I've checked all the typical places and I only found one registry for them on Macy's and everything they registered for is very expensive. I've honestly never run into this situation before.I'm sure I'm over-thinking it, as usual. Do you think that they are hoping for / expecting / ok with getting gift cards, since they registered for expensive stuff? Plus they only have like 10 things on there anyway. I know they have both been living on their own for quite a while and probably have most of what they need but... I can't afford to throw down $150 on new dishes for them.Should I just ask him?

    In my area, it's actually customary/preffered to give cash or checks.  It's very rare that people give gifts, so if you got them a gift card or even just gave them some money, i'm sure anything would be appreciated!!!

    Ditto PP.  I never give a physical gift for a wedding, just showers.  GC are always acceptable.  They probably didn't register for much in hopes of getting cash.  If you would prefer to give a gift, just ask him.

    I would go with a visa gc and write a nice note about how they should use it on their honeymoon or to go out to a nice dinner.

    Ditto pp on the Visa gift card - very useful whether they want to use it on their honeymoon or use it to remodel their kitchen.  For weddings, I prefer to give cash in smaller bills so they can take it on their honeymoon and use it right away without waiting for checks to clear.  You can definitely ask him, though.  Maybe they're doing a honeymoon registry or something unique.

    I finally just asked my coworker and he didn't even know they were registered anywhere... men! lol.He said he's going to find out tonight, but it sounds like they just want money / gift cards. He said that they didn't know what to register for because, like I said before, they have both lived on their own for a long time now. I guess his fiancee only registered so they could have one, since people were asking. It does looks like their registry is more of a really nice "wish list" than a "we really need these items registry".I'm now debating on cash or gift card, leaning toward cash. Everyone loves cash!  They are going to Paris for their honeymoon... Lord knows they can use all the $$ they can get their hands on for that! haha.Thanks for the help, ladies :)

    If you have some time before the wedding, you can always take the $$ you were going to give them and exchange it for currency they can use on their honeymoon.  That would be a really cool gift!

    I love that idea as well!Unfortunately I was planning on spending about $50, and that comes out to a little under 33 Euros. I will have to think about it... I really, really love that idea though!
