HM Regisitry advice

Thank you for everyone who responded to my post, expecially Ivorybride 09!  I appreciate the feedback.  I wasn't really sure how a honeymoon registry works, but I think I got it now.  :)So moving on to my next question...should we even use a travel agent?  (Not for a registry, but just for the purpose of planning a honeymoon.)  Is there anyone you would recommend?  When would we start planning for the best rates?  Should we just book everything online?  P.S.  I'm thinking about taking a cruise to the Carribean. Thanks!

I've never found the need for a travel agent.  www.cruisecritic.com has great reviews of ships.  Just go check out your dates, and then check out the ship there.  You do want to look for a newer ship.  If you get seasick easily, watch for ports that you tender in to.  That means they put you on a tiny little boat and it can take up to an hour to get back on (yuck).  Look at every website you can for deals- we ended up saving over $300 by calling the cruiseline directly.  If there is a particular company you like, sign up for email deals. When I booked our cruise, I looked at the ports and what we wanted to do.  What was most important to us was swimming with the sting rays (Amazing!! but busy).  We then wanted to go snorkeling.  We got to do both, plus a 'find the best margarita Key West has to offer at 10 AM' day.  Hope you find what you're looking for!

Once again (You can tell I have and LOVE them) you can use AAA if you have it. They will print out free trip tics for you and they are wonderful.

We booked through a travel agency because we just didn't want to have to try to plan it all but we got a price gaurentee so if the room we booked is cheaper before we leave them we'll get some of our money back. I thought the agent was great just because we went in and told her a few places we were thinking about going and she helped us pick on of the locations. Then, she asked what we were looking for in a resort and helped us find the perfert room & resort that fit our needs & our budget. Airfare is usually not available until about 11 months or so in advance so we haven't booked that yet. But Good Luck with planning!

We decided to use a travel agent b/c we didn't want to worry about the planning, searching, etc.  It didn't cost us anything and she took care of everything for us with no hassles at all.  We used Kathy Chesko at Joy Tour and Travel in Sharonville.  GL!

Not a problem dear.  And I've always heard that you can get better deals if you book through an agent, but I don't really know.  I didn't plan our honeymoon it's all a surprise.  Sorry I'm not much more help.
