Teeth Whitening and Armpits

Yeah, I got range.Tell me about the best products for teeth whitening.  What worked and what didn't.Or tell me about what steps you took (if any) to insure your underarms were photogenic.  I have some irritation from shaving - wondering if I should wax or what.  Bonus: Does Dove really "condition" your underarms?

Re: Teeth Whitening and Armpits

• I use a daily whitening toothpaste, so I can't help you there.  My mom picks up one of those packages of Crest strips every now and then.  She likes them. I just shave my armpits, but I can honestly say I don't think there's a single picture with my pits in it.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

• I tried Crest White Strips and they made my teeth hurt.  I've heard LOTS of people say that. Why is anyone going to be taking pictures of your armpits?  I don't think I have a single picture from my wedding of my armpits.

• I have been using the original Crest Whitestrips for about 2 weeks now, I definitely notice a difference. Some people get temporary teeth sensitivity, but so far I have been fine. The only reason I got these over others is that this is what they had at Sam's Club when I went, ha. As for underarms, I really don't know - I am super sensitive and am still trying to find a deoderant that doesn't irritate me. I also get irritation when I shave - maybe shave the night before so you're not freshly irritated?
• I have always used Crest Whitestrips and they've worked great for me.  I also use Dove deo and my armpits never get irritated, so I'd recommend that too!
• I personally can't whiten my teeth because I have a couple of caps, but my mom (who works for a dentist) says the only real way to whiten teeth is to go in to have trays fitted and then use the products provided by the dentist.  I got my underarms waxed, and I think I will continue to do so because it was so liberating.  A lot of people will tell you that it's painful, but in comparison to a bikini wax it's nothing. Bonus: No clue, I use a different brand.
• The best thing I've found for my teeth is a Crest night gel that you "paint" over your teeth, allow to dry for a minute, then sleep in. That stuff works wonders, and I'm glad you posted this because it reminded me I need to get some and get my pearlies white again! As for armpits, I didn't even have to shave until I was almost 30, and I only have about 10 really fine hairs under each arm. Could you try an after shave gel for women that will help with irritation?
• Okay there is one picture showing my armpit, but I seriously doubt ANYONE would look at my actual armpit.http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b8ce29b3127ccec5058428ed9f00000040O01BauWbFuyYg9vPgo/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/

• Vicmo - How many days did you have to not shave for the armpits to be waxable?  I shave every day to every other day, so the waiting will be a challenge for me!
• Maybe the wording was off - I don't think my armpits will be taking up close and personals - but I was just thinking of pics raising my arms or dancing and whatnot. I take solace in some of you not having any pics with arms raised - but I think Lynd's has a pic with her arms raised, maybe there are more.
• She could be like mag and keep her arms up at all times, rock start style. cacoffer, your teeth are beautiful in your sig photo. I can't imagine you need to whiten them much!
• I use the Listerine Whitening mouth wash and Crest with whitening stuff. I wax the underarms.  PP said it perfectly, it is so liberating.  I can go two weeks and not have to worry.  I use Secret invisible dry, so no help on that front.

• Due to interior mottling from some antibiotics I took as a child, I can't whiten my teeth. As for pits, I use Secret Conditioning Solid (the kind that is sort of liquidy when you roll it up and absorbs into your skin like lotion). I love it. Also, in order to reduce irritation, you should always use shaving cream and run the blade across your pit slowly. I also shave towards the floor first, then back up if necessary. Never across. But that's just my method.
• I've used Crest Whitestrips and they made my teeth very sensitive, so I stopped using them.I think there is only 1 picture of my armpits as well and they look okay. I use Dove deodorant and love it. I think it does condition the area.

• It only took about four days, Alexia.  It has to be just long enough for the wax to stick.  I'd suggest not letting it get too long because I think it pulls more and is more painful.
• I think I'm gonna go for it... I've always wanted to try it, but don't know anyone that has done it. Also, how long did it last? And does it grow back stubbly like when you shave?
• No waxing for me.  I'm a baby. I just shaved every day that week (normally I go every 3 days or so cause I'm lazy like that, unless they're gonna be showing), and shaved that morning.I've had a deodorant fight the past several months. Everything has soured on me. I was switching  to the  Clinical stuff you have to use the night before, and it was okay, but I wanted to shower that morning. I tried the pH balanced Secret, and lo and behold - IT WORKED. I also use a 4 blade razor (and a man's razor, non-disposable) - I think that helps, too.As far as teeth whitening - I can't do it.  Teeth are WAY too sensitive.  I use Aquafresh (sometimes Sensodyne) Sensitive which has some whitening power to it, but that's it.  I just make sure I drink water after I have tea or kool-aid or soda (I also have a false tooth near the front).

• Thanks Bec, but I feel like I have some discoloration.  When I went to the dentist he suggested whitening and then told me it would be about $400 - that seemed excessive to me.  I'm looking into alternatives.  I think I may pick up some Crest Whitening strips or the paste.
• Sorry for the thread jack!
• Alexia, I can go about two weeks before I notice that it's growing back.  Definitely grows back softer than shaving does (at least for me), so I can go another few days before it needs to be dealt with again

• I'm using Crest whitening toothpaste which is probably not good since my teeth are also very sensitive but I wanted to see if it really worked, I think they have actually gotten about a shade lighter. As for the armpits, mine get very irritated too. My doctor said to use deo that doesn't have aluminum anything in it. I bought a stick and it doesn't work so well in the odor control area. I tried the new Dove that says it helps with shaving irritation and although they're not perfect, they have cleared up a bit. I also try not to shave everyday and right after I shower I put globs of lotion with oat meal or shea butter on them.
• Ditto pp.  I started seeing a little big after two weeks.  It's been about a month since I did it and it grew back softer and finer.  It's still easier to shave.  I think I'm going to go back and do it again next week.
• cacoffer, FWIW, my dentist's office did recommend crest strips...... I just can't do them (I can't even touch my teeth hardly) :)

• I am so glad you asked the question(s)! I was wondering about both topics too. Here is what I do know:I started the crest whitestrips last weekend and they seem to work, but it is painful. I just sucked it up. You might be able to find a dentist that offers the prowhitening for half price. Especially new dentists- they use it to get clients.  I used Dove and it didn't really work any miracles, but neither does Secret, so I am hoping waxing will work. I might try it out but as previous poster said I get ancy and end up shaving.
• Vicmo5- LOVE the picture! I wish our Pug could be in our pictures! I am jealous.
• Thanks, Melbee. :)
• I know I'm going to try the Crest white strips. Also I'm waxing my underarms, have my appt on Thursday. Yeah, waxing almost everything. Bikini, leg, undearms, eyebrows...dang...apparantly I like pain...
