Proposal question - since we have some newbies

How did FI/DH propose to you? We had our son December 07 - valentines day after, we went for sushi, and everything was normal. I never ever ever ever in a million years thought he would pop the question that year, let alone that day. When we got back to my moms house, he had the ring tied around the baby, under his clothes. I was told to change the baby, and while changing him, the ring was there. It was cute, and I'm glad he included our son.

My Mom and Stepdad were visiting. They actually brought the ring up from the jeweler that weekend. Saturday night we were having dinner in our kitchen and drinking sangria. He dropped it in my glass when I wasn't looking.  When I finished the glass I went in for a piece of fruit, and there it was!

It was a Monday night, Spetember 15, which was the day the lease started on our first apartment together. He wanted to go for a "fancy dinner" to celebrate.During the day, he sent me flowers at work. That night, before we went to dinner, he gave me a silver dollar he got when he was in like junior high. He'd gotten 2 of them, and told himself that someday he would give one to the girl he loved. He said he would carry them in his pocket, and when he was having a tough time, he would hold them in his hands to remember she was out there. Now he carries one and I carry the other. (We're saps ;-)The actual proposal was at dinner, in the restaurant. The funny parts were a) that the waitress delivered the soup right in the middle of his big speech and b) this guy at the next table was like "run away! run away!" Uh, thanks dude. Then we went for tasti-d-lite, visited my friend to tell her (since she was right in that town and we both kinda knew the proposal was coming), and then called all my relatives =)

Aw that's sweet that he included Brandon :) We went to the Thirsty Moose and on the way out, in the parking lot he got on one knee and proposed. When we got home my brother and our 2 best friends had champagne and desert for us.

FI and I met at a Devils game so it was only fitting that he proposed at one. I had no idea it was coming. He had dragged me into the jeweler in August and then he waited till March to propose. My friend caught the whole thing on her camera and posted it on youtube to share.

FI and I were just spending a normal night in...watching the Mets game and drinking wine.  He went upstairs for 'something' and of course our dog followed him (she is nosey).  He came back down with her in one arm and a box in the other.  He sat down in front of me and said "Molly and I have a present for you" and then asked me to be his wife!  It was perfect and I was so happy he included the pup.

We were in St. Thomas.  We went out for dinner (nowhere special really-- it wasn't pre-planned), we went for drinks at the pool bar at the hotel afterwards, and then he dragged me for a walk on the beach and proposed there.  Not a particularly great story, but kind of exactly what I wanted -- quiet, simple and private.  Also, we were staying at the same hotel that my sister and her husband were at when they got engaged, which is kind of neat.

My family went down the shore for a weekend.  Me and FI were out with Family, when he took me for a walk on the beach.  He proposed there and then we walked back up and celebrated with my family.  It was awesome.

We were in LBI on vacation and went to dinner at Plantation.  He asked right before dinner was served.  The biggest surprise was that no one in my family but for my father and brother knew -- which is hard when your family is the jeweler...

FI and I knew each other some time before we started dating and on our first date he took me to dinner and we were supposed to see a movie. The movie we wanted to see was sold out, so we walked back to his car (which was across the highway in the Home Depot parking lot because he is particular about where he parks his car...lol) and we sat in his car and talked for hours....that night he asked if he could kiss me....So, the day he proposed he was fixated on going to Home Depot and me going with him....so he drove there, parked in the same spot as he did the night of our first date...and started reminiscing about our first date....He said do you remember that I asked if I could kiss you and I said of course I remember...and then he said, "What would you say if I asked you to marry me?" and he pulled out the box with the ring....I was stunned and he completely caught me off guard...lol....If he took me to the restaurant we went to I would've known but never thought he would propose in the Home Depot parking lot...lol

It was 4th of July weekend, and we got a motel room on the beach at LBI- we had been at a party that Saturday, and we didn't want to have to drive home. He suggested we wake up early Sunday to watch the sunrise on the beach. We woke up, went on the beach, and in his backpack he brought a bottle of champagne and plastic flutes. As the sun crossed the horizon (at 5:35am) he got on one knee and proposed! It was perfect...

On our first date (went out as friends), he said during a break in the conversation, "So, you think you and me together is a good idea?"Proposal night ... we were sitting on a park bench by the water and chatting, and during a break in the conversation he said, "So, you think you and me forever is a good idea?"I was told after that that, apparently, I would not shut up long enough for him to get the words in edgewise :P

MH never even proposed...I walked out of the Jeweler with the ring on!  We just went to look and get ideas and ended up falling in love with my ring we ended up buying it then.  MH told me that I can put the ring in the box and he would do it another time or if I walked out with the ring on he was not doing the whole proposal.  I opted to walk out with the ring on my finger.

We went on a cruise in Dec. and he proposed on our balcony as we were pulling out of the port in NYC.  He wanted to wait until the cruise ship got closer to downtown near the statue of liberty to do it, but the ship barely made it to 34th st. when he did it.  I'm glad it didn't go overboard! He bought the setting over a year prior to that and got the diamond that Oct.  I couldn't believe he started buying my engagement ring more than a year in advance.

my parents have a vacation house in cape cod, we go for a week every year and FI loves to go into Boston, it is ehr favorite city, even thoough we hate the red sox.  I was going to propose a year earlier, and we talked about it, but she wanted me to wait another year, so she could pay off her student loans before the wedding. The rules as you heard earlier, no jumbetron yankee stadium proposal, no public proposal, ie restaurant, and no one could know about it before it happened. So she picked out her ring, and it had to be sent over to Isreal to change out the center stone for a larger one, it wasnt due back for 2 months, and we were taking our week vacation, she knew I was going to propose on our vacation. So I bought a fake/costume ring that looked like her real ring.  had it in my pocket all day while we were in boston.  We walked a long way down to the charles river, and it was sunset and swamped with bugs.  She was like what is this Joba on the mound in Cleveland again, we arent going in there.  I had to "bug" her to keep walking.  I waited til sunset, we found a park bench overlooking the river, I waited until no one was around and told her it was getting late and we should go, she went to put her jacket on and I was on my knee. She didnt know what to say, cause she "knew" her ring was in Isreal.  so after the initial shock, she just started crying and I explained how it wasnt real, but since it looked like her ring and it was getting dark, she couldnt tell.  She obviously said yes, and she loves having her fake ring to wear to places like Yankee Stadium so she doesnt have to worry about it getting stolen.

Aww MB that's cute! I've said it before, and I'll say it again but I ruined my H's planned proposal. He picked out the ring in mid-May, but got it in the wrong size, and apparently, the wrong color gold (yellow instead of white). He asked my parents on my dad's birthday (May 29th). In the meantime, the ring was being changed around. He got it back on June 29th, for my birthday which is July 2nd, when he was planning to propose. I went to work and had a horrible day, and in addition, got into a huge fight with my parents, who showed up at my job as I was leaving work to talk to me about what was going on with my H - who they didn't approve of 100%. It was terrible, I was a crying mess, but I promised my H I'd meet him at the gym to work out together. I showed up about 45 minutes late. When I walked in, I didn't see him but he saw me and he changed his mind about the proposal - he wanted to do it that day. While we were working out, I was telling him about my parents and our fight, and he said why don't we go out to Triumph (where we had our first date) and talk it over and let me make you feel better. I outright refused, I just wanted to go home (well, not home where my parents were but to where my H was living at the time). He kept pressing, each time I said no, and finally I broke down crying again. After that he relented. I didn't even want to change back into my work clothes, I just went into the locker room, got my stuff, and went out to his car. We were going to get a bite to eat together, get my car on the way back then go home. We were sitting in his car, I started crying again (probably saying how unfair my parents were being, LOL), and he opened up the glovebox and took out the ring. Once I calmed down, he told me his plans for that evening, how he had decided to change them once he saw me, how he was planning on proposing on my birthday in front of the restaurant where we had our first date. Then I lost it again b/c I ruined it. It's been over 3 years and I still hate myself for it.

FI and I met online and started dating in January 2008. Our first date was at a rodizio restaurant and I after we knew we would be getting married eventually I started joking about ways he could propose. I "accidentally" named every way he had thought about but one. We had been looking at rings for a long time and I picked an eternity band as my e-ring.  I knew he was having it made but did not know when he would have it. This April I got home from work on a Monday and went to change into sweats. I had a long day at court and was exhausted but FI kept saying I just need to show you something on the computer. So I sat on the couch and he showed me a website. It was all about us and our relationship with different buttons for me to push. the last one said will you marry me with a picture of the ring and when I got to it FI got down on one knee and asked. I just sat there speechless for a minute before saying yes. It was absolutely perfect and caught me so off gaurd. The only thing I was right about was that as soon as FI got the ring he would propose because he wouldnt be able to keep it a secret. Turns out he picked it up earlier that day. I put the ring on and we took a picture and sent it to our firends to let them know. Then we went to my parent house to tell them. aAfterwards we went to chilis for dinner (He wanted to take me to some fancy place and all I wanted was chicken crispers and corn:) )oops sorry so long!!

FI had asked my parents for their blessing in November. I was convinced he was going to propose on Thanksgiving then I thought ok well maybe Christmas, then I thought oh of course new years. Then I thought ok Valentines day. Then I thought maybe our 3 year anniversary. All of those moments came and went. On Feb 21st (4 days post anniversary) he showed up at the high school (where I graduated from 9 years ago and where I currently assist on theatre productions) and all of the sudden he was up on the stage calling me up there. He proposed in front of all of my students, my friends (who he had gathered there) and my mom who was making costumes for the show. It was very special because of how much being on that stage meant to me as a student (its where I met most of my friends) and now I love putting my theatre degree to good use and working with my friends to teach the current students. We have it on video which I love and in the background when he kneels down you hear all the girls squeel and  AWWWWWW very loudly so that was cute!
