Southern Cali ladies- What to do?

We are heading to San Diego this weekend for a few days. I am planning on going to the zoo while he is in his conference one day. What do we need to see? Where to eat? Tips?We are staying in the Gaslamp district.

Re: Southern Cali ladies- What to do?

  • I'm not much help with San Diego because I don't know the area very well. The Gaslamp district is suppose to be a really nice/fun area to stay, though! Good job to whoever made that decision. You should try looking up things to do in San Diego on Trip Advisor.
  • Howdy!  First, while you're at the zoo take some time and explore Balboa Park.  Or even come back for another day and spend several hours there.  There's a ton to see and do and places to eat.The Gaslamp has a ton of wonderful places to eat at, and if you like bar hopping downtown is fun at night.  I also like taking family to La Jolla when they come to visit.  The Children's Pool (where the seals are) is always fun to hang out at for a bit and they have some great restaurants there, too.
  • I love old town SD.  There's a great Mexican restaurant at the bottom.  I can never remember the name but they have a mariachi band and an outdoor patio area and yummy yummy margaritas.  Sea World is also fun as well as the Zoo and Wild Animal Park.  Oh and Seaport Village isn't huge but there are some shops and places to eat right near the water.  Have fun!
  • I agree with all the pp's. Seaport village is a lot of fun...go in the evening just before sunset. It's beautiful. And it's not far from the Gas Lamp District. Old Town has some really really yummy mexican restaurants and some really fun shops to look through. The Italian district has some awesome restaurants. And you should look to see when their Farmer's Market takes place...it's a lot of fun and one of the vendors sells the best panini's ever. La Jolla is gorgeous, but very crowded and I found it a bit hard to navigate. There's an awesome Thai place in the Gas Lamp district but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called...but there are a ton of good restaurants within those couple of blocks.I love SD and I'm jealous that you're going. Can I tag along? :)
  • Ok well If you have time at night you need to check out the bar BASIC. Its my fav bar in SD and has amazing munchies too. its in the gaslamp down town kitty corner to PetCo. I 2nd La holla, the Prep kitchen is a great place to eat for lunch. For breakfast, I love breakfast burritos at Albertos in Mission Bay or at the 1st mexican resturant on the left hand side of the street from the beach in Ocean Beach ( sorry forgot the name). Hope you have lots of fun!
