Never ending fittings!!

So I am getting married in 24 days and I am already on fitting 3 NOT including my bustle! I am so sick of these darn things! The kicker is that all i needed to get done was hemming! The first fitting was to pin it, second one to make sure she placed the lace correctly on the bottom so it barely swept the ground (i guess she had to make sure it layed right before sewing) and third trying it on all hemmed. She is my FMIL's friend who does tons of alterations for the community, however has NEVER bustled a mermaid dress before. Now I need to get it bustled which will take a week! Anyone else have a crazy amount of fittings?

I will probably have around 4-5 fittings considering the alterations that need to be done to my dress...but I'm totally fine with the amount of fittings b/c I would rather have the dress look amazing on me than my seamstress just guessing how it should be.

I think I had 4 total. I'm sure it's frustrating, but I'd rather have too many than too little. At least this way you know exactly what it will look like and how it will fit. I personally think it's good thing. Maybe not for your schedule, but to ensure the perfect dress & fit :)

I will have had 5 fittings when I go pick my dress up on the 22nd.  But she had to do a lot to mine, take it in 2 inches all around, sew cups in the bust, hem, and do the bustle.  But she did an amazing job on all of it and I couldn't be happier.  The only thing good about going back so much is the dress looks better everytime I put it on, haha.  Good luck, and don't worry it will be worth it. :)

yeah i guess it's good she is taking her time to make it right, but before all this I was thinking that the hem and bustle would be done by the same place! It did look good finally hemmed. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of bustle will work with my dress!

I only had three appointments total--one to try it on and do the first fitting, one to check those alterations and add the bustle, and once to pick it up-- and I had A LOT of work that needed to be done (they took 20+ measurements when I bought the gown, and somehow it STILL came in at least 2 inches too big everywhere...a scam, I tell you), but I paid an ungodly amount of money to have someone at Kleinfeld's do it because I didn't want the hassle of finding another alterations person in NY and I couldn't very well travel back and forth to Cinti to have it done.  For the amt of money I paid, I would have been VERY upset to have had more than a few appointments...

My dress is the mermaid style, and I have a French bustle.  I don't have any pictures, but it's an option for you.  I love it!  It's so pretty, with the style of the dress.

Oh, I didn't realize you were looking for bustle examples, here's what we did with mine (mermaid):http://foreverbeginstodaycom.weebly.com/uploads/2/0/8/5/2085774/7002019_orig.jpg And here's what a friend of mine (uber fabulous knottie choogirl) did with her lace mermaid gown (very simple, but very pretty):http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs179.snc1/6730_612398940560_10903908_35931802_6276015_n.jpg[/url

ivory, the lady was nervous to try the bustle since the lace is really heavy (not a delicate lace!). Now I am nervous it is going to rip the lace! I am taking it to a place that specializes in bustles, but I am still scared!

HR that is really pretty...I have a decent sized train and I am hoping I can do something like that!

This was the inspiration for mine (from knottie lizzard0922) - to be entirely honest, I like this one a lot more than I like mine, but there was simply way too much fabric to make mine lay like this (i.e. way too many layers of fabric and tulle), so my seamstress did the best she could to match it.http://lh3.ggpht.com/_3jZthGuMyKU/Sszy3FfyLhI/AAAAAAAAJ-c/iQsh_Wf_cDE/bustle%20lizzard0922.jpg

Really, that's crazy.  Hmm, mine looks a lot like the first picture HR put up, only I don't think my train is as long so it's not as big.  Hopefully they will be able to figure something out that won't hurt the lace.  I'm sure they will if they specialize in bustles though.

My dress has a lot of lace on it and she did a simple 2 point bustle.  Mine is very a-line, so she couldn't do a french or anything like that b/c it wouldn't be "poufy" enough.  Pics of bustle under dress.
