Seriously Brad???

I have been coming to this board for about 10 months now. I ALWAYS stay out of the drama posts and usually believe addressing you is not good because it actually gives you what you are looking for: ATTENTION. However, I just read your response to my no kill thread and now I understand why you irritate everyone to the point they feel they need to address you. Here is your gem of a response: I still dont get this animal donation thing. How does animals have anything to do with a wedding. You dont want to have a favor, dont have one. You want to donate to animals, go ahead, god bless you. But dont do it as a favor with the stupid little card that explains the mission of the shelter, who cares. It is a wedding I dont want to read about an animal shelter, I want to eat, drink and spend time with family.YOU dont get it but I didnt ask you to, and frankly could care less YOUR opinion. If I had donated to cancer or heart disease would it have been any different?? If you actually read my post I explained that I had no desire to waste $ on favors that may ultimately be thrown away an would like it to be used to do good. Fi and I are huge animal lovers and are actually not numbering our tables but naming them after pets we have had the pleasure of being parents to throughout our lives. It is our way of honoring our pets who obviously can not be physically at our wedding. But Im sure you think thats stupid too and after all its YOUR opinion that ultimately matters.  Im sure there will be others that think its stupid and thats fine, really it is. But what irritates me about you is the fact you feel the need to interject yourself with the sole intention of being an a$$. Please invite the rest of us knotties to your wedding so we can all learn what a REAL wedding should look like.

you can donate to who ever or wahtever you want, but doing it at your wedding and having that card that explains the charity that 90% of people dont care about is just being a AW.  Just donate and dont have favors.

I know this doesn't have to do with your vent, but I just read your post from yesterday and think it is a great idea. As someone who has cats, I would feel very thankful about your donation and hope it works out for you, Chloe.

And again YOUR opinion. That wasnt what the thread was about. I specifically stated why I was doing it and only asked for suggestions on shelters. No one else felt the need to butt in and express their disapproval but of course you did. Had I asked what everyone's opinion on the idea was, your comments would have been fine. But I didnt ask for that. Why do you feel the need to be so negative and express your disapproval and turn your nose up at others when they didnt ask or care about your thoughts on the topic. Then you wonder why everyone is always giving you a hard time. Is it really that difficult for you to not be in the middle of everything??

also not sure what religion you are, but it is against christian and muslim teachings.  If you do something for another person, you are supposed to do if cause you really want to, but if you publicize it in any way, it is worthless.

I am doing a donation as well.... and it is VERY nice to add a card because you are drawing ATTENTION to the charity of your choice- not to yourself! So apparently according to the pope here he thinks it is much more christian to just keep the money instead of donating it and telling your guests where it is going to?

hahahaha pope benedict brad....hahahaha The point of a donation isn't to be an AW.  That doesn't even make sense.

Chloe, I got a great idea for you.  How about in between your ceremony and reception, you can have a walk-a-thon to help save the animals.  We can all pledge per mile too, that would really make a difference.

You SERIOUSLY must have been picked on when you were growing up. She was never ASKING for your opinion. Instead she was asking for no kill shelters that are reputable. If you'd take the penis out of your butt, you wouldn't be so uptight, and you MIGHT actually understand that. I'm assuming it's shoved up there pretty good though, so I doubt it's coming out anytime soon.

I only assume it's a penis, and not some other object since you are a MALE on a wedding board. But we've already gone over that topic numerous times.

omg- what an IDIOT! A wedding and a walk-a-thon are two seperate events. No reason why you can't support a cause in an appropriate way and honor something that is important to you as a couple.

Brad - my guests actually will care that I'm donating to some sort of Cancer charity since my FFIL beat it and my stepdad is currently fighting for his life...literally. My guests have a heart.  Apparently your friends and family are cold a** b*tches. I'm sorry you surround yourself with such terrible people that wouldn't care about someone doing something nice/good.

and how does Brad know that 90 percent of her guests dont care about the animal charity? Maybe the entire wedding is filled with animal lovers
  • edited December 2011
chelsea, that I get and totally support.  I can see how your family would find that as touching.  But that is much different than an animal shelter.

So not different from an animal shelter :(  Animals are people too!!!Okay, I come from a long line of people who probably like animals more than people.  But we had a ton of major animal lovers at our wedding, and much like not everyone is going to love/need a monogrammed wine stopper favor, not everyone is going to love the charity you choose.

I assume that since animals are so important to you and your guests, that you are having a strict vegatarian diet, or else you kinda being a hypocrite saying save the cats and dogs, but the cows and pigs, light them up on the grill.

Ditto uppereast.  We have adopted both of our dogs (our children)...we have seen how important it is that these shelters get donations to help provide all animals a place to stay before they find their "Fur"ever home :).  As long as the charity is legit, I am all for it!
  • edited December 2011
Brad--if its important to them, then what's the problem?  Regardless if you agree with it or not, its still their choice where and how they spend their money on favors. Honestly, you need to stop being such a close-minded person. Please grow up.

I have not eaten a cow or pig in over ten years.  But yes, I do know that there is definitely hypocrisy (I am not vegan.  I have lots of leather shoes and bags.  I eat poultry).  People are omnivores.  My cats are obligate carnivores (and I feed them cow).  I do what I can.

Dana - I have started the think the exact same thing. He was that kid that was picked last for everything. So he has to make up for all that time on a wedding board. I can see if she asked for your opinion but she was not so there is no reason for your response. I don't understand why you feel that your opinion is the end all be all.

They'd be at the head table with us! LOL But on the flip side Pope if you know of any walk a thons for animals coming up, please let me know. Would love to do it and I'd love to accept your pledge!!

And thank you to everyone on here for understanding. I think Brad is the only one that doesnt get my point that I was not asking for opinions. Only suggestions on reputable shelters
  • edited December 2011
how would you think your dogs would feel, of animals are so important and great, that you are eating their friends, Mr Pig and MR cow.  If animals are important and all animals are equal, I assume your wedding is very strict vegan wedding, correct? You wouldnt want to be a hypocrite and support dogs and cats while eating another animal.

Brad, I completely respect your opinion regarding charity favors generally, and you certainly aren't the only one who feels that way, but now you're getting silly again. Besides, dogs are carnivores.  They probably think Mr. Cow = yum.

Speaking of hypocrites did you just state this on the other thread re charity donations??? I think it is fine, as long as it is a organization. If the bride said I donated to the pay my hospital bills fund, that would be odd.
