We are getting ready to send out the save the dates.  MY FI and I decided we were going to send a std to family (we both have large families) and important friends taking part in the wedding.  FMIL is insisting we send one to every single person on the guest list.  Who did you send the std to?  How far in advance did you send them?  Thanks

    Hello!! I would highly suggest that you only send to people that you know you will be there for you at the wedding. We sent to about 80% of the guests that we 'wanted' to be there at the time and ended up regretting few. You can't really go wrong with family and close, close friends. Those people that you really can't imagine your life without. However, different bides do different things. If you really want to send to everyone, I say go for it!

    I sent one to everyone on the list. I regretted that, and wish I had only sent the STD to close friends and family (we both have large families and we are not close to most of them.)Since my wedding had to be postponed, it kind of thinned out the people who I think will come, and the people who will probably be there on this short notice are the people who I would have sent STDs to if I had limited it to close friends and family. It all worked out:)

    I just sent my save-the-dates out.  I sent them to every couple/family I knew 100% that I would invite.  There are a few that I'm still not sure of, so I kept those off the STD list.  I've been having a little freak-out, because I really agree with K-Hart, but a lot of people were wondering when the date was...so I just took a deep breath in and mailed them!  :)  I don't think I'll regret many, if any!Good luck deciding!

    I sent them to everyone on the list.  Because our wedding fell on a holiday weekend, they were sent out close to 10 months in advance.

    I am actually getting ready to send mine out this weekend :)  I am sending it out to family and friends.  There are a couple of people on my list that I am not sending them out to.  Mainly my concern was giving Chris's family a chance to get off of work and stuff since they are from FL.  We are not having a big wedding so I don't think I will have a problem.

    We sent out ours this past Monday!  We sent them to all of our guests.  That being said we have gone through the guest list several times, over and over.  Most of our guests are very close friends and family anyways.  :) We sent them about 6.5 months out.  :)  I regret buying STD's.  I wish I would have just sent an email! Although I do really loved the ones we got!

    I'd advise against sending them to everyone. So much can change in that span of time (we sent ours around 6.5 months). By sending an STD you're basically committing yourself to inviting them. also, keithandkristi, your sig legit takes up my whole screen.

    I only sent save-the-dates to the people on our guest list from out of state. I'm from Texas so my best friends and some of my family are still down there. I sent to them, and I also hand-delivered some to _immediately_ family here in the area.It saved me a TON of money. =) And I know I can pare down my guest list later since I didn't sent everyone an STD.
