wow, sounds like everyone is getting a lot of planning done! Yay for date twins (or quads, in this case) Our ceremony is at the UNM Alumni Chapel and reception is at Hacienda Antigua B&B. Where are everyone elses? I did a bunch of planning earlier and took the summer off. I've got venues, photographer, florist, caterer, dress and BM dresses picked out (but not ordered). The save-the-dates went out today! Has anyone done their invites? I'm starting those later this month, but I'm starting to get a little worried that I took too much time off.

Wow! This is great!! I'm glad you girls have gotten so much done! Like I said, I've gotten so much done, I really have nothing much to do till we get closer to our day.-I'm have the ceremony at St. Thomas Aquinas.-Reception at Marriott Pyramid-Florist - Millie Fluer Flower (shes great!)-Natural Touch Photography - Great package at a great price!!-I already bought my wedding dress and already picked out the bridesmaid dresses but the girls havent bought them yet. I got them at Alfred Angelo.-Cake - Just a Bite Bakery. Mmm they are sooo good!-I bought blank inviations. I'm going to print them out myself. -I also bought the favors just have to put them together.-I have a DJ. its actually my cousin from Miami, FL. Hes a DJ out there for a radio station, clubs and he does weddings too for liike 15 years. So that will be fun.I'm originally from Miami, so its been hard for me to get things done not knowing of much around here. But I think I've done pretty good for myself. lolAll my family lives out there too. So, I'm sad that not alot of them will come cuz of the way the economy is going, but we'll see. I'm right now trying to find wedding music. We have our song and the father and mother dance but were just trying to figure out our entrance song. Any ideas? We have to keep in touch. If you girls have any ideas or can help me in anyway of stuff we can do for our wedding out here please let me know! Thank you!

Hi everyone. We are in the beginning stages of planning and we are looking at early fall 2010. We love New Mexico in the fall so we want an outdoor wedding. (Unless we decide to do a destination wedding iN Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, which we're looking into as well.) Our budget isn't huge but we will have quite a few guests. So therefore we are looking into the following venues: - Hyde Park Lodge - Alta Mae's - Hacienda Vargas And, our crazy idea that I think we might actually go with, is Heron Lake State Park, where the cliffs are. Anyone have any experience with any of these? Thanks for starting this thread, it's nice to talk to other NM brides to be.

I thought I'd go ahead & share as well:Ceremony: Immaculate Conception ChurchReception: The Event PalaceColors: Lavender and SilverTheme: Cinderella/fairytaleCake: Le Paris French BakeryWedding Dress: Bridal Elegance by DarleneBridesmaids dresses: Alfred AngeloReception food: CajunPhotography: Destination Photography by LeahJust some advice, if you're really into healthy & organic stuff, Le Paris French Bakery only uses natural ingredients. I loved it, because it's a really small bakery, & I really got a good feeling from it. & The Event Palace is amazing! Their prices are incredible, & Fofo (the event planner) actually becomes like your wedding planner. She's even helping me find a fountain for my cake. & they take care of everything, food, decorations, coordinating the reception, etc. & Leah is an amazing photographer. Her prices are wonderful as well, & she has great ideas. We had our engagement pictures done with her, & they came out very well, so we're going with her for the wedding to. Our pictures are actually on her site, & she's a little under the radar, but if anyone is looking for a good-priced, amazing quality photographer, check out her site: www.dpbyleah.comThe only problems we're having is picking music for the actual ceremony. We're both musicians, & refuse to have Pachelbel's canon played (sorry girls...it's just too overdone) & we want to be really original. Problem is, we can't agree on a song for me to walk down the aisle to. We chose Bach's fugue in g minor for the bridal party, & leaning towards "If I Can't Love Her" from the broadway version of Beauty & the Beast for me to walk down the aisle to. But if anyone has any other ideas, that would be great :) oh, fyi, it's most likely gonna be an arrangement for trumpet & organ or piano, but possibly a brass quartet or quintet

aardvark - i love working with Elva She did our save-the-dates and they came out fantastic. I'm meeting with her in a few weeks to start the invites. TNJ - i love geri's work at Mille Fleur 0 what are your flowers going to be? -- i forgot to mention we're getting our cake from Unique Cakes by Karyn as far as music goes, we're going the non traditional route too. i have a couple of guitar players who are going to play during the ceremony and cocktail hour. i'm going to walk in to an acoustic version of jack johnson's "angel" for the reception: 1st dance - either norah jones and adam levi "love me tender" or chris cornell "thank you" i love the song "girls are made to love" by sugar ray, if i were doing a bouquet toss (i'm not) i would definitel have this song playing -- i'm so happy there are NM Brides who are active on the boards -- let's keep this going

The price was pretty reasonable as well

Thanx for all the great info!! The bakery we chose is Just a Bite Bakery and they use all natural products too. They dont use lard. They use butter and everything is homemade and they dont freeze the cake for like weeks like ABC Cake does. So, we were really happy about that too!I love everyones locations and ideas! And it seems like you have really done all your research, you've been saving lots of money! That is great! I did the same. I'm sorry I dont have any ideas of songs, I'm trying to figure out what we want too!

Wow. I feel really behind too. My date is May 15 as well. The only thing we have planned is the Chapel, UNM Allumni. Looks like we will be having a backyard reception so I don't have to worry about some of the extras like center pieces. We are trying to decide if we want a wedding party, bm and such or not. I haven't even started looking for a dress yet.

JengriegoWe are booked for 5:30 to 7:30. I saw that someone was booked earlier before us.Not totally sure on colors. I was thinking brown and pink, but that could definitely change. Its a police wedding, so we've got to work with the uniform colors. Unfortunately its even more complicated because the groom works for Sheriffs, tan uniforms; and his best man work for Rio Rancho which is a dark navy uniform. I may just go with brown and navy for simplicity, but I just wasn't sure about those colors for a summer wedding.
  • edited December 2011
Those colors are very nice for a spring wedding! Kaki is a very earthy color and spring is all about earth! Your girls can wear the navy blue with a beige sash or something. It should be very nice! GL!

alicia_s - slate street caters? I thought they were a bar in rio rancho. I never had the food there b/c its just bar food. Is it any good?
  • edited December 2011
Slate Street Cafe is actually a restaurant in downtown albuquerque - super cool atmosphere with a wine loft and they do a fun upscale twist on comfort food.  They do everything from mac and cheese to a killer ahi tuna.  www.slatestreetcafe.com
