  We're going with Roseville Bakery.  I don't remember what it costs exactly, but I think it was between 2.50-2.75 per slice.  I wanted cream cheese frosting and that increases the cost like crazy at some places.From The Knot I've heard pretty good reviews about them.  Recently, I've head of a bride saying that the cake wasn't exactly what she pictures, so I plan on giving the baker a picture and being pretty clear a week or two before my wedding (but I was planning on doing that anyways).

  We went through Penny Steele's Custom Cakes. Seriously, the best cake I have ever had. And very reasonable - $2.10 a slice. http://www.steelecustomcakes.com/

  we are doing a cupcake tower rather than a traditional cake from Franklin Street Bakery in Minneapolis. They are my FAVORITE cupcakes ever..and i believe a pretty decent price. They don't advertise wedding cakes, but i've seen a few they've done, and they look really nice. I'm also getting a cake for the rehersal dinner there as a surprise for FI...it's going to look like a poker table...super excited to see how that turns out!

  I just met with someone at Queen of Cakes. It will be about $725 for a cake that feeds about 100 people and sheet cake enough for the other 150 guests. I am going to keep looking.

  We are using Penny Steele Custom Cakes too and I absolutely agree with shortntall that it is honestly the BEST cake I have ever had. My FI is a big sweets guy and always gets dessert (no idea how he is so skinny! ) so an awesome tasting cake was supper important to him. She is also willing to do dummy tiers so we can have a taller cake without paying that much for it.

  Roseville Bakery!  The contact person (Amy) is really easy to work with and gives you as much guidance (or not) as you want.  She was great about being open to changes even the week of the wedding, including adding on a groom's cake in the shape of a JEEP.  Everyone said the cake was so moist and tasty, and we agree!

  We just met with Grandma's Bakery in White Bear Lake.  So, the cake was good...and we are going with cream cheese frosting and doing cupcakes instead of cake.  They quoted us at 1.75/cupcake.  Seems pretty reasonable to me!!!  I'm not very picky though...so it may not be for every bride!

  we are using queen of cakes and I am very pleased with them so far.  We have a 4,6,10 main cake and 18 centerpiece cakes and our total was around $750

  We are going with queen of cakes. We are doing a 3-D grooms cake and sheet cakes for under $300. They do 10% military discount. Their cakes are amazing and their customer service is awesome!

  We're using Robin of Gateaux, Inc. I can't say enough wonderful things about her and her work! Our 3-tier wedding cake will feed between 90-110 people, with 8" tiers, sugar flowers, 2 different flavors, and a little sugar figurine of our dog hiding amongst the flowers. Cost = $1550. In our opinion, SO WORTH IT! Robin is also doing our groom's cake and favors. If you want a truly amazing looking cake that tastes fabulous and a creative process that's FUN and professional, I absolutely recommend Robin and her team!

  We spent $500 on cake for 150 people (total bill including delivery) through Queen of Cakes.  A four-tier cake with 4 different flavors/fillings, and cream cheese frosting and ribbons around the bottoms of the tiers.Mike was adament that the cake had to be good tasting - he wouldn't settle.  We tasted at Buttercream (left a bad feeling in my mouth and the service was less than desirable), Roseville Bakery (only let you try cake and you have to spread your own filling/frosting on, so we couldn't try the real thing; plus the filling tasted funny to us), and PJ Murphy's (frosting was a little off, though I loved their real strawberry filling - sliced strawberries, mmm!).

  My aunt baked ours, so I can't help with cost, but we had chocolate with fudge filling, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, vanilla with raspberry filling, chocolate and white marble, and vanilla cheesecake with strawberry topping. The cheesecake was definitely the first to go. People were asking if there was more in the back. Luckily, I talked to the owner beforehand and had him save me a piece, otherwise I wouddn't have gotten any. As in, we took the cake cutting picture and by the time I walked across the room to where they were bringing out the little slices, it was gone! [IMG]http://tinyurl.com/ygdjy6o[/IMG]
