Non-Traditional Engagement Rings

Any tips on where to find nice non-traditional engagement rings?  I don't want a diamond, some sort of gemstone.  Possibly a gemstone with diamond accents or on the band.

Jewelry stores sell more kinds of rings than just diamonds, you know...

I have found smaller, privately owned jewellery stores are usually the ones that have the most selection in custom rings.

Really you can go anywhere and buy a non-diamond e-ring. Typically the price of the diamond is not included when you're looking at settings so you can just buy the setting and put whatever you want in the center. That's what we did - we bought my setting at Robbins Bros and just filled the center stone with a sapphire.

I agree with Sapphire, who, for the record, has a *beautiful* ring.  Most jewelry stores (chain or not) will sell rings that hold stones that aren't diamonds, and if they don't have one you like, you can always just pick a setting and pick a stone from somewhere else and put the two together.  I think you may be overthinking this.  GL!

You have a few options. My cousin found a cocktail ring that she liked and had the Jewelry store custom design a wedding band. Also you can find out if you have a local designer that custom makes jewelry and have a special creation.

If you like antique/vintage styles, someone mentioned this web site awhile back:http://www.antiquejewelrymall.com/  hope the clicky link works.

Ya, I agree with all PPs. Any jewelry store will sell rings that aren't just diamond. Or, pick the setting and stone separately. There is a sapphire ring I want soo badly right now (not an e-ring, just a ring I looove) at a store in the mall. *sigh* Too bad it's like $800, which seems a bit excessive to spend on a random ring (at least, in my mind that's a lot).
He pretty much had me at "hello".

Do you know what kind of stone you are looking for (at least the color)? Not all gemstones are suitable for daily wear. Your best bet is to stick with a sapphire, ruby, or Moissanite.
