Oh God I am mortified

Re: Oh God I am mortified

  • Ditto Sarah.  If this was just a contained house party where the guest list is controlled and a friend of the host,  I would say that while they will get awful stares and talked about badly, they probably wouldn't actually be in danger of any harm.  Even though they're angry, people will behave a little more controlled out of respect for the host and his house.  But out in a public bar, you don't know who is there or what their background is or how nuts they are.   Add in loads of booze and its just a timebomb.  I would stay away from them.  I would also be sure to tell them why.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • Thats actually how I would approach them on it. Not so much of a "You are such a f*cked up person to do this" but more of a saftey "have you thought about how people will react to this?" standpoint. They would probably be more inclined to listen to the second. Very true.

  • I am appalled. You obviously cannot force them to switch their costumes, but you can go dressed as WW2 era soldiers.
  • LOL Anna, that is clever!

  • That is disgusting, not funny in the least bit.  How anyone could think that was even remotely okay is beyond me.
  • I don't find this amusing at all.

  • You and DH should dress as WWII soldiers with guns, and make a big scene of rescuing the prison camp victim from the bar.
  • Yeah, pretty high up there on the tasteless costume-o-meter.I mean, what are they going to do if someone at the bar WAS a concentration camp survivor, or has a family member that died in the camps, or there are Jewish people there who have concentration camp ties?I wish you good luck in deal with this one. And, Anna's idea is a tad bit funny.
  • I really want to know what happened. I hope you talked some sense into her.Any updates, ricks?
  • There was a party at a university in another state for oktoberfest, and a student there decided to dress as Hitler. Needless to say, it made national news headlines, everyone was completely horrified and this student's enrolment at the university was being reviewed as a result.
  • That's so inappropriate. I mean, maybe (big maybe) going as an Obama-Hitler pushing a healthcare agenda would be a little humorous- if you are making fun of those crazies who have made that comparison. It would also be relevant. But Hitler with a concentraction camp victim? that is one of the most disrespectful costumes ever.
  • Ang you need to talk to this friend and tell her that this is wrong. You are worried about losing a friend but I think if they go through with this iditic plan they will lose many friends, and a few teeth.
