I know I've regaled you guys with stories of my female BFF, R. She was the BM who drove into town the day of the renewal and left the same day, after me offering to put her up for the night so I could see her longer than 5 hours. She also managed to look unhappy in every single one of the photos, so much so that people actually asked later, What was up with the unhappy BM? She's been dating Douche Chris now for something like four years. Now, I probably started my estimation of their relationship off wrong, b/c when I asked her what he was like, her quote was, "When we look into each other's eyes, we find peace," and I busted out laughing. In this relationship, he's told her that he doesn't love her, it's her fault his ex-wife (who has remarried) isn't coming back to him, that he doesn't want any more children (he has 2, R dearly wants her own baby), she's complained about his alcohol abuse, blah, blah, blah. In the meantime, she's also complained about how she can't live on her salary, canceled 3 trips to see me and some other crap. She's been a back burner friend for awhile, but for some reason I never really let go.I called her about a month ago. She called me back and left me a message that she was soooooo happy and "swirly" b/c she was buying a house with Douche Chris. I haven't spoken with her or returned her phone calls since. I'm done with her hot mess, even though it sucks. We've been friends for 10 years now, but damn, I suddenly was asking myself like Hooka, WTF do I get out of this friendship? I'm tired of phone calls b!tching about her lose boyfriend. She's 33, it's time to stop wasting time on a losing project.4 men in the world syndrome and fear of aging along, indeed.
