Yep, this happened -

Hi ladies.  I post here somewhat frequently, under a different name (linz_e_moore.)  I changed my email address and name, so that my full name wasn't in my siggy.  Not a troll though!Anyway, I work as an events manager at a chain hotel.  Kind of like a reception only coordinator.  I had a 350 guest wedding this past weekend for a very sweet couple. After the reception was winding down, the brides mom came to me, thanking me for my help, etc. and told me that the bride and groom were planning on leaving soon, as they were very eager to "consumate the relationship."I just smiled.  I didn't know what to say.  Please tell your mothers not to say this!  Just thought I'd share.  Also - - when you bring in 60 centerpieces with floating candles for your banquet staff to set up, make sure the candles actually fit in the vases.  I had to run across town to buy 120 floating candles.  :)

  • My brother and his wife had the minister announce as part of the ceremony that they were both virgins. People are weird about sex.
  • ick, the fact that the mom was the one saying that is sick.

  • Ugh.  Nobody needs to know what the bride and groom are doing after the ceremony, or what they haven't done before the ceremony.  At all.  Period.

  • Nope, I don't think she drank all night.  She was just really excited I think.  LOL.  Ick is right.
  • Yes Night they did. Again, sex makes people weird. They were proud about it and that's cool, but I don't know why they thought we'd all want to know about it.
  • My brother and his wife had the minister announce as part of the ceremony that they were both virgins.I'm stealing this idea. Mainly for the shock value. And I won't do it during the ceremony. I'll have the DJ announce it.
  • Eww, I'd be mortified if my family said that to other guests, much less random strangers.
  • LMAO! That reminds me of the wedding I went to last month (with the southern baptist altar call DURING the ceremony, cash bar, AND dollar dance!) when the Best Man (groom's dad) made his speech and said, "Live each day like it's your last, and each night like it's your first!" and then thrust his hips around. The room fell into an awkward silence.
  • Ugh, that's embarrassing!  Glad my family doesn't talk about stuff like that.  I know in some families, it's a point of honor to talk about the "virgin" thing, but even if I was, I think I'd rather keep it to myself!

  • Bec...after the travesty that was the rest of that wedding, the best man's actions just seem like the icing on the cake.

  • Haha that's awesome and incredibly awkward. Our wedding night we had an after party in the conference room adjoining our bedroom and invited our friends and family up. I kicked out my friends around midnight because I started getting tired. Most of the people there got the message and left, with a few winks which made me blush. Dh kept trying to drop hints for one of his buddies that he needed to leave but he was ignoring them. Finally Dh was just like, "Dude, you know I love you like a brother, but get out of my room so I can be with my wife before she passes out." 10 minutes of whining and he finally left.
  • My brother and his wife had the minister announce as part of the ceremony that they were both virgins.I think Jessica Simpson's father said something about her "saving it until marriage" when he officiated her wedding. SUPER tacky.

  • Msmery that's how the officiant worded it for bro's wedding, too. "T & L have saved themselves for this marriage blah blah blah". I was sixteen I think and just thought "oh that's super duper awkward!"
  • "T & L have saved themselves for this marriage blah blah blah". I was sixteen I think and just thought "oh that's super duper awkward!" Even more so if someone intentionally giggled right after ;)
  • Apparently it's the cool thing to do if you're a virgin, since it seems like those are the only folks who talk about it. My friend and his wife waited until they were married, but nobody said a word about it at the wedding, thankfully.
