Flower alternatives

Hello ladies. I would be eternally grateful if you could suggest an alternative to gardenias. I love the way they look as an all white bouquet - they don't blend into a large ball like carnations and hydrangeas.     Maybe a mixture of freesia and roses, like in this bouquet? http://www.weddingannouncer.com/pictures/4407/customtext/167635/full-size/bouquet9.jpg (I don't know how to PIP... sorry... if the link doesn't work, make sure there's no in it...) It looks like the gardenias in your picture are silk... are you planning on a silk bouquet, or real?     The gardenias in the picture are actually clay but I would definitely want real flowers. I love the look of the orchids in the picture you provided. I have gone back and forth with the idea of roses... I think if I did them I would want them to be in full bloom so the petals are turned out instead of tight together. The orchids are beautiful though, I will be looking into those as well! Thank you for your help - I wish I knew more about flowers.

    Maybe ranunculas or peonies?

    I have never seen peonies or ranunculus in person. I looked them up on a google image search and I think I like the flowers with more obvious petals a little better. I guess I'll just have to keep looking. Thanks for the suggestions though! Very helpful in terms of giving me a place to start as I know NOTHING about flowers.

    It sounds like you're looking for a flower with a more easily viewed shape, something with more definition.You might look at tulips. Although they are known to be a "thirsty" flower, and would benefit from being put into water at various times during your reception.

    while tulips are gorgeous, and would give a similar look... i wouldn't try to DIY them. They need to be wired and cut a certain way - or they will look like TOTAL CRAP very, very fast.
