Good morning ladies!

Re: Good morning ladies!

  • Good morning! Mixtape - your poor FI. You're a good woman though, it's sweet that you stayed there with him. I cant handle puke...I'd be throwing up too! FIL is downstairs...and H is still sleeping. I really don't want to venture down there alone. FIL is ok, just awkward I guess. We never have anything to talk about.
  • My cousin graduated from Butler so she is beyond psyched!  I am excited for her and rooting for Butler for that reason cause truly I wouldn't care otherwise.  I don't really do basketball.

Hi LDY!  you could always just wake H up :).
  • I watched those games last night, they were both tough losses. I was rooting for VCU and UK. I failed lol. Im going to root for UConn... I'm still mad at Butler for knocking out my Gators. Hi loopy! H is starting to come around I think, but he was awake for 21 hours yesterday helping me with our awesome garage sale, so I feel bad waking him up. Plus, it means I can sit here and knot for a while :-) We slept with the windows open last night...the weather is awesome. Gorgeous morning! H and I are finally getting a Sams card today - is it weird that I'm giddy about it?? I love Sams lol
  • I am not much of a basketball fan either, but was excited b/c Ohio State was in it. I am more of a football girl. I live for football in the fall.

  • Loopy- the car would be bad too. It's in Education Curriculum: Integrating Teaching with the Arts.
  • Thanks :(

But, upside?  At the bar we went to LVB and Mr. LVB were interviewed by the local news.  I'm trying to find the video, but I don't think it's online.

  • LDY- Haha Normally when I see people throw up, I puke too! Even drunk Fi was like " WHy aren't you throwing up too?" But I just felt too bad for him to think about puking, haha. Poor little bug.

Loopy- I'm done school by April 20th (And done class on friday, woo!!), but I still teach music lessons 3 days a week where I live right now, so I won't be fully moved in until around the wedding. I teach lessons until the end of the term, which is the end of June, so until then, I'll be staying in my current place while I teach, then coming and spending the other days at FI's.

And, it's somewhere new for me- FI and I are both from the same city, but when he got into medial school he moved away in September. I'm excited to move- it's a much smaller city than where I've lived (I attend school in Toronto), so it'll be a big change!
  • That is pretty neat, Kate. I wish there were more knotties where I lived. I am hoping that after we move back I will be able to meet Stacks and Abby.
  • I thought it was related to teaching.  Glad to know all this work hasn't totally turned my mind to mush.

Missy - I LOVE football too - but more Pro than college.  Though if this lockout situation continues I may have to switch to college football this fall instead.

LDY - we sleep with the windows open through most of the winter.  We close the  heating vent upstairs and close the door at the top of the stairs and it stayed like 40 degrees up there.  It's GREAT for sleeping.

Exactly. I really only watch other sports when it just happens to be on. I was entertaining my 3 month old nephew and feeding him a bottle while I watched the games. He seemed to like watching all of the movement that was happening on the screen.
  • Do you have a job lined up in the new place yet Mixtape or will you take care of that when you get there?

I want to meet some Knotties... A few people mentioned getting drinks in June the other night.. someone is coming up for a wedding.  So maybe that will work out...
  • I would love to meet you, too, Loopy. That is, if we make it back before you guys move.

And I love college more than pro. But I have heard about the lockout situation, but haven't been really following it all that closely. Oh yeah, and I could never sleep in a house that cold. I have to have at least 2 blankets on the bed in the winter or I will be freezing. I always joke and say I am cold blooded. This winter H wouldn't let me put the electric blanket on the bed, so we compromised and I just put an extra blanket on my side.
  • I love it cold so I can snuggle under the down comforter and up next to H.

No, I don't have a job lined up yet... I'm hoping to teach music lessons here too, so I plan on putting up some ads around the city/ on the internet a month or two before I move here. And, I'm gong to keep gigging and auditioning for plays and musicals. I'm also thinking of getting a part-time day job, since I would be teaching mostly in the afternoon and night, and I don't want to be stuck at home. I want to meet people and make some friends, so I thought maybe a job might be a good way to do it? I'm kind of nervous... But excited too.

Now, I had been thinking of doing a bit more school- specifically, a program for musical theatre, which is what I ultimately want to do. FI thinks now would be a great time for me to go to school, and that the program would give me a lot of experience. It's not that I need another degree, it's the actual dance/acting experience that would be great.

However... after just finishing a degree, I really don't feel like doing 3 more years of school, you know? Plus, I wouldn't be able to work as much if I were in school, which = less money. I honestly don't know what to do.

ETA: Sorry for the novel, haha.
  • H does keep me warm and sometimes I think I get too hot and wake up sweating, so this year we definitely kept the heat a lot lower than we have in previous years.
  • If you want more school now's the time to do it before you get out of the habit.  I always talked about going back for my masters, but I doubt I ever actually will cause there's too much else going on these days.  And we'll be starting to try to kids soon so there ya have it.
  • Good morning!  I have been sleeping like crap since H came home.  He isn't used to having a big bed anymore, and neither of us is used to sharing a bed anymore.  I woke up with an elbow digging into my head like 3 times, and with 4 inches of the bed several times.  Finally i gave up and came downstairs.

  • Ugh.  Sorry Beachy.  You'll adjust I'm sure.  Or just get two twin beds a la 1950's TV shows and you can have "sleepovers" once in a while LOL :).
  • We need a larger bed so bad. I think that is going to be our next major purchase.
  • I know, Loopy, that's what I keep thinking. But then again, the experience I want doesn't need to necessarily come from a school- I was thinking about taking a bunch of dance classes, and auditioning for a bunch of shows, which is the practical experience I need. Even my teachers in my program now said I didn't need to get more school, I could get experience outside the classroom.

It's the type of thing where only I can make the decision for myself, but I don't really know what to do, haha. I'll need to think long and hard about it. FI thinks I should go to school, try it out, and if I hate it and really don't want to be there, then I can quit. I guess that's an option...
  • Sorry  DNB.

I sleep way better when DH is not in the bed and we have been together for 4 years.  Right now we have a queen size bed, but will not take it with us if we move to the states.  I will insist on  king if we move.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • H wants a king size bed. We slept in one on our HM and it was Heaven. I think I would be content with at queen though. Our bed is way too small.
  • Well, I guess I should go get in the shower so I can stuff the enchiladas and get them in the oven.

Do you ladies think that I could leave them in the oven on about 200 degrees for an hour while we are in church to stay warm? I just don't want them to get dried out even though I will coat them well with the enchilada sauce on the top.
  • We have a Queen and sometimes it feels a little small.  When we go on vacations where we stay in hotels (as opposed to tents LOL) we always get King rooms and LOVE it.  Once we have a new house I will be saving up for a bedroom set with a king size bed.
  • Missy - I might cover them loosly with foil or something first to keep some of the moisture in, but otherwise I think they'd be okay.

We have a full size bed. Yes, I know. But H was sleeping in a twin bed before I moved in with him. And then my parents gave him my old (before the one I have now) mattress. We still have it, but it has totally seen its better days. So now we are using my mattress from when I lived alone. It was perfect for me, but tight for the two of us.

When we first started dating, H couldn't believe that my sister and I had always had full size mattresses growing up. H is one of 4 kids and him and his younger brother always shared a room. I guess you can call me spoiled b/c I have never shared a room with my sister except when she would be scared in the middle of the night and crawl in my bed with me.

Thanks Loopy. I will definitely bring the foil along with me.

This is the first time I have cooked this amount of food before. I guess it is good practice for the future holidays, etc.
  • Yeah we have a queen, but we would both love a king.  We have a nice bedroom set though with the queen size frame, so switching to a king size will be very expensive.

H is definitely the all-over-the-bed sleeper.  Even while he was gone I pretty much stuck to my side of the bed.

  • we have a king, and i still never have room. but we also have a 85 pound and 55 pound dog in the bed.  i should move into the guest bedroom.  there's a queen in there.
