Photog recs?

I'm looking to an excellent and reasonably priced (under $1000... ok, maybe just cheap :-P) photographer for a wedding on the UCO campus (Edmond). If you loved your photographer, who was it?! Also, any tips- things I should definitely do or not do, or things you wish you could have done differently? TIA!

We used Amy at Norman MotoPhoto.  Very reasonably priced, packages from $350 to $950 and I'm really happy with our pictures. Tips--pick someone who's personality works with your's.  Good pics are important, of course, but so is being assured that they won't annoy the hell out of you or your FI in the process :)-tell them EXACTLY what you want, don't hold back.  You're paying for their service and they're pros so you should get what you want.  If you want fewer staged shots, tell them.  If you want artsy/creative shots, tell them, etc.-make a list of poses/pictures you want.  Include the obvious (family pictures, for example), but also the less obvious (if there's something unique you've seen that you liked, write it down).  Anything you can think of!  I re-wrote mine about 5 times b/c I kept thinking of other things I wanted.-Some of mine and DH's favorite pics are the ones that aren't posed, we didn't even know they were taking a picture.  So make sure your photog(s) will make themselves somewhat 'unknown' and that they'll be looking for and aware of those "kodak" moments.-Get recommendations and look at their work.  Not just a few pics from a wedding, but a whole wedding--getting ready through the reception.Sorry that's super long, hope it helps some!

We haven't seen our pictures yet, but we used Mandy at Gordon Dinsmore in Oklahoma City, and have been really happy working with her and with their products so far (fun fact: they did my parents' wedding 30 years ago). She was really fun to work with and got my very nervous, emotional, and shy hubby to smile big and even laugh. I would just echo the tip of having a list of the pictures you want, even ones that seem really obvious, because in the moment you will forget - there are a few that we intended to get, or assumed we'd get, that just slipped through the cracks (various combinations of family members, etc.), not due to any fault of the photographer but just because there are so many different groupings you can do and if you don't think about it beforehand and specify, it might not happen. I would also suggest talking to any involved family members, as well, to make sure no feelings get unintentionally stepped on - mom really wanted a picture of you and your sisters with her and her sisters..., don't stand grandma susan next to uncle roger, etc. It's your wedding day, but it is also probably a rare opportunity for lots of family to be together, and this should at least be considered. Also, think about the timing, discuss it with the photographer, and maybe even assign someone - a relative or bm - to be the timekeeper for post-wedding shots. We unintentionally went a little longer than we wanted to, and I just wish we'd set a cut-off time beforehand.

I am using Abby Coyle. She actually went to UCO but graduated a few years ago. She is very reasonably priced but very talented. www.abbycoyle.com She has been very good about incorporating some of my wish list. I would recommend knowing what kind of pictures you really want so you can make sure you get them.

I realized I left out the pricing part - one of the things we really liked about Gordon Dinsmore is that it's all a la carte - you put down a deposit, which goes toward whatever you purchase, and pay for the time of the photographer, but there's no set "package" of a certain type of album, engagement photos, bridal photos, etc., so you only pay for what you want. We found the a la carte pricing pretty reasonable.

I highly recommend Ashley Riddle.  Ashleyriddlephotography.com.  She is great to work with, very responsive.  She has a package listed on her website for $950 with bridals, engagements and 8 hours of coverage on your wedding day plus you get a high res disk of all your images so you can print them wherever.  It's a great deal especially after seeing her pics.  She does a really good job.
