Florist - is this reasonable?

MOH and I just met with a florist and to be honest, neither of us were impressed at all.  She came off a little scatterbrained, and didn't show me any photos of her work.  I had brought some inspiration photos since I basically know exactly what I want, but it would have been nice to know what she's done in the past.We get an allowance for centerpieces in our reception package, and while it's not substantial, I think it's reasonable.  Well she basically doubled it, so we'd be paying extra on top of what's included.  She quoted me $50 per centerpiece, which included a 5" tall cylindrical vase or square vase, 5-6 stems white hydrangea and 6-7 roses.Does this sound reasonable?  If you had CPs as part of your package, did you end up paying a lot more than what was included or did you make it work with what you had in the package?  I was planning to DIY the centerpieces before I got this new venue, so this is all new to me.

Is the $50 above and beyond your contract allowance? That seems like a lot for what you are getting. Did she offer you a CP design without paying more $$ for it?Is there another preferred florist that you could meet with to compare? That may be helpful...our CPs were quoted at $65 each from our florist and obviously not included as part of our package.

The florist we picked in our package did not charge us anything extra for our centerpieces. She basically said that as long as we went in season there would be no extra charge.  Our package gave us specific amounts of bouquets, corsages, etc.  We needed extra attendant flowers and she gave us the package price for each extra which saved us tons of money

It's $50 total, so $20 above our contract allowance.  No, she didn't give me any other options that were actually within our allowance.  She kind of scoffed at the package allowance and said we would only get 7 roses in a cheap vase if we just got that.I'm meeting with another florist on Tuesday so I'm hoping I like her better.  I might be willing to pay extra for CPs if I actually get a good vibe from the florist, but I feel like she's trying to rip me off.

For my package, which sounds very similar to yours, we get 35 dollars per centerpiece and that would be bunches of flowers in small square vases. I plan on upgrading to high and larger low centerpieces but those were about 30 dollars on top of the 35 allowance.. so yes it sounds like she's more expensive than other florists.I asked my florist flat out how her prices compare and she said honestly that she charges more than some cheaper florists. I appreciated her honesty and I don't mind paying extra for the work she does. She also grows her own flowers, which is why she's more costly.I'd keep looking for a florist she mesh well and one that fits within your budget. GL!

When I met with my florist she showed us what she could do that worked within the budget from our venue.  They looked beautiful and we were very happy with them.  I feel that if the florist has worked with a particular venue for a long time she/he should be able to work within that budget.  Obviously if you want to upgrade you should be given the option, but if you don't get a good vibe from her I would move on to someone else.

That sounds kind of expensive to me- I am working with hydrangeas and roses because they are fairly inexpensive. I would ask for itemized cost of them. My 3 hydrangeas cost $10.

I personally wouldn't even consider using her since you both said that "neither of us were impressed at all." Just keep looking I am sure you will find the right florist!
