I was sick all weekend. Thankfully, I think it was a 24 hour bug and not the flu. I feel a little better today, but still not great. It sucks.

I should have taken today off rather than Friday.  I did not sleep well at all last night. Also I locked all my drawers last week before I left because we were going to have some unknown people in our office and I left the key at home.  My breakfast is locked up!  Guess I get to go home during lunch.I forgot to thaw something for dinner tonight.

I brought donuts to work to thank a coworked who helped me out so much when my car was in the shop a couple weeks ago. And now I want one really badly.

I'm back at work after a wonderful week off.  I wish I had this week off, too.  Also, next week.  And the week after... I woke up at 3:30 this morning and only napped on and off till I got up.  My brain just wouldn't shut down.  Between the weird half-asleep dreams, I was obsessing about the engagement pictures we're taking tomorrow and going back to work after such a nice vacation and getting my dog to the vet today and a million other things.  Now I'm exhausted.  Whine.

I find it extremely childish and quite sad that David's grandparents aren't going to stay for the reception because certain people will be in attendance as well. WTF?! Grow up and act like adults people! If that were my grandparents, I would be heartbroken.

It is Monday.  However, it's a beautiful day and things have now returned to normal.

That's crazy, apple.  The bright side is that now you know they won't be there trying to bring everyone around them down.  They'll leave you and the rest of your guests to have a good time.  Too bad for them. Another B&M I have is that I'm getting really tired of flakiness.  I'm starting to get concerned that no one we invite will actually show up to our wedding.  I invited almost 30 people to tailgate with us this weekend and only about 4 showed up.  Only one had an actual excuse.

There is no comparison between a tailgate party and a wedding as far as attendance percentages go.

I had a headache all weekend and it has carried over to today.  I almost OD'd on Aleve.  Also I have GOT to start going to bed at a reasonable hour.  I only have 3 weeks to work on these dark circles.

Yeah I agree. It just sucks for David :( I sure as heck don't want to tell him heh. There are a couple others doing that and both me and FSMIL are thinking why even come then? You are going to drive 2 1/2 hours for 15 minutes? Not even stay for an hour? Whatever. More friends that I can invite!

Thanks, almoyo.  I'm aware of that, just b&m-ing.  I should have also mentioned that this is not the first function I've invited a significant amount of people to, offering free food and booze and only a few showed up.  Luckily, it's the same people every time and I know I can always count on them.  I'm just tired of the bullsh!t excuses ("My mom's allergies are bothering her"--so you have to stay home with her?  You're 22.).  If you don't want to come, just say so.

May - I have the same problem with some of my friends.   I would like to think that they will come to the wedding, but my mind tells me otherwise.   Because of that, there are a small handful of guests (if they RSVP) that will be counted as 1/2 a person (for the 50% chance that they might show up).

While I was gone for the wedding I got signed up to work two different events at homecoming this past weekend... and I got assigned to helping man our tent for two hours. So most of my Saturday was spent working and Sunday was spent trying to catch up on house work, so now it feels like I didn't have a weekend at all. I'm really tempted to ask my boss for a three day weekend, even though I just took a week off.

    1. My mom backed into Jay's car and now I'm going to be schlepping him around all week (or more) until we get it fixed. 2. OU/TX weekend, enough said 3. Bridesmaid backed out of wedding. She has a prefectly legit excuse (going to study in Europe next semester and wont be back on time) and I am not mad at all, but it sucks that my oldest friend wont be in my wedding. On the other hand, she's been flaky lately. 4. I wish I could figure out what FMIL means by "affordable?" She has no concept whatsoever about what weddings cost and does not know all of the cost saving stuff I have done, so it sucks. I guess she'll find out when her daughters get married, muahahaha.

I was planning to get D an LCD monitor for the computer in the office for his birthday.  He bought one on Woot yesterday, so now I'm stuck.  I hate coming up with gift ideas for him, and he doesn't drop ANY hints for me!  I always mention things I'd like to have as gift giving holidays approach and he's really good at catching them.  I am worried though, that I"ve been whining about our crappy dishwasher so much that I may get a new dishwasher for our first Christmas as a married couple.  It would be nice to have, but not a precedent I want to set for appropriate gifts :-)

I'm exhausted.  And after 10 months of theatre, I'm ready for a break.  And I've gained weight.  I'm not happy today.

Marissa- My dad is the same way!  Although we are paying for the wedding, he cringes at everything.  Beer and Wine? "Gah.  Do BYOB." "You mean you have to pay for your ceremony site? Gah!" "You're feeding people? Gah!" We live in two different worlds and the prices are VERY different plus a lot of things where he's at are somewhat free.  I've been lying to him about our budget (not that it's his business in the first place) but he would be in the hospital from a heart attack if he found out!  Like you, we've done hours of endless research for everything, compared prices, etc. but they still just don't get it.

Marissa re: "affordable" - I plan to get some revenge when my sisters get married.   My mom doesn't know how much the wedding ended up costing me, and so I'm hoping it'll be a rude awakening when my first sister gets married and tries to do just as nice of a job for less.   However, I will scream if either even suggests altering my dress to fit my sis.
  • edited December 2011
I suppose I should clarify that I don't mean that mom and sis can't do a wedding for less (so many brides do so well budgeting), it's just that nothing costs what mom thinks it should cost.

I guess we're all in this same "affordable" boat! Alana--get your dress professionally sealed, then they cant touch it! FILs graciously offered to pay for half the wedding, and it's not like they are being cheap--I just keep getting mixed signals. Like "our family will want an affordable hotel to stay at" So we found a great deal at the Fairfield Inn right next to DFW complete with a shuttle that will take them to the church! But instead she decided to go with Summerfield Suites in Irving--nowhere close to anything. It's just the hotel they've always stayed at, and it isn't cheap at all?? Or "we want to make the rehearsal dinner a little cheaper" So we suggested doing something really informal with pizza (I've been to one like this and it was a blast) and they want to go with the Gaylord or a steakhouse?? We're trying to save them money and I honestly know she isn't trying to be difficult, she is just clueless.

Or one more--I told her about how I am selling my wedding dress since it was $900 and more than I wanted my parents to pay. She thought it was sad that our daughters wont be able to try it on. Umm...I'd rather have my dream dress and sell it than get a cheaper one off the rack just so my "possible" daughters could try it on someday...

I went to the doctor this morning, and my blood pressure is really high.  She's worried it might be my BC, and I'm super scared that something really bad might happen.  It really stinks because I've been working out everyday and eating really well, and then something like this can still come up.  :(BUT, on the REALLY positive side, I found my dress this weekend!

Sara, I wouldn't be concerned about it unless it's frequently that high.  There was a little while (I think about two months) when my BP was pretty high for what seemed like no apparent reason, but every time I've had my BP taken since then, it's been fine.  My doctor just told me to pay attention to it.  And congrats on finding your dress!  That's a huge check!

Sara, I had a high end of normal BP before going on BC.  After four years on it, I was high on BP every time I went in, got migraines even worse than I used to have them and ended up on two/three different medications to control those two things.  I no longer take BC but I still have those two problems.
