My baby had her puppies on Friday! They are sooo stinking cute : )
Cookie is a shih tzu-chihuahua mix. We bred her with my friend's yorkie. He is full blooded with papers and she is wanting to stud him out and needed to do a trial run I guess. We have been wanting to get Cookie pregnant for a while and she went into heat and so we got them together.
She had SIX babies, which we were shocked by. We only expected like three or four since she's a little dog, about ten pounds. FI and I are planning on keeping one. He is trying to convince me we need two, lol. And then a couple from church and another family from church are probably going to get one. We are not sure about the rest. We aren't selling them for profit, just for the first vet's bill and a little extra because we'll have been caring for them for about four months when it's all said and done (conception-when they're ready to leave their momma).
And I have to say, I normally don't condone this sort of behavior. FI and I always talked about adopting a dog from the shelter. Which I think is a wonderful practice. The want to experience puppy raising was a bit too much tho. We'll be rescuing a kitten as soon as possible tho, in the interest that our furbabies can grow up together. As that's how it's always been at my house. All our animals love each other. It's sweet : ) I can't wait for the cats to see the puppies running around. They won't know what to do.
