I'm breaking the rules and asking an attire question here

I value your opinions so I'm going to ask here.

We're set to do our e-pics the last week of October in a local park. We're hoping to have the trees turning colors, etc in the background.

I'm really self concious of my weight, specifically what it is at this current time, and I looked high and low this weekend for a cute top that would flatter my figure and make me not look back in disgust at myself in my pictures.

Well, I ended up finding a cardigan that loooked really nice, but it's kind of a drab color:

I was hoping to have a nice colorful sweater or something in the pictures. They only offered the cardi in the above color, so I bought it hoping I could spruce it up.

Do you girls have any suggestions on what color tank top I might be able to wear underneath or what type of accessories might spice this up a bit? I tried it on with a black tank top and loved it, but I would like to have a little more pop for my pictures...

  • I'm on it.  Give me 10.
  • They have a lot of cool brooches out right now.  NY&C has a lot that are $10-15.
  • Oh, and do you have a full size pic of the cardi?
  • I think that color would look beautiful with a chocolate brown, persimmon or even a royal blue.

  • No Mo I couldn't find it online :( I can find a picture that is close though.. hold on...
  • Since its going to be with fall colors, what about a dark or burnt orange, or a dark red?  I love accessorizing and adding colors.  I have the Express cami tanks in almost every color, and I wear them under literally everything.  I feel naked without one.

  • I love wearing black for photographs. I guess it stems back from taking headshots in high school for shows. So, I vote for black if you've already tried in on and loved it. I'd just pick a more fun, flattering color for makeup for "pops."

  • I think that if the leaves are changing colors, that your top will look beautiful with those colors.  I also like the thought of chocolate brown or a deep blue going with it.
    image
  • I like the orange or royal blue color. What about a deep purple? Oh, I like the purple, I think darker colors are slimming.

  • I think any bright color would look good under it. I'd go with a green that flatters your skin tone. OOOOoooh and belt it, defining your waist is always a good idea.

  • I am totally boring, but I think white would look good with the fall leaves in the background.  And then maybe change into a fuschia or blue top for any other pics you take outside of the park... but again, I'm boring.  BTW, I did fall E-pics last year- wanna see?

  • I think a blue or purple would pop against the fall foliage colors.  I don't think I'd want to match those colors (red, orange, etc) because then you'll just blend in too much :)

  • Your waist is totally defined!  I mentioned that last week.  A belt will make you look even more hour-glassy.  Give me just a sec on my pics.  The album was expired on my photog's website.

I love that color!! Thanks! :)
  • I'd wear it with really dark jeans and some hot boots - since it's so plain you can really dress it up with some fun jewelry too.

Like I said, I'm boring.  But I purposely wanted the background to contrast with us and have those colors pop the most.  We ended up changing into nice clothes and going downtown, too.

Oh oh, you need these too: <a href="http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=10125&vid=1&pid=803208&scid=803208002" rel="nofollow">http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=10125&vid=1&pid=803208&scid=803208002</a>
  • Yeah definitely. I think the key will be to accessorize. Thanks for the ideas! :) I think I needed some reassurance that I wasn't being totally boring with my outfit.

Kate, I think I saw those on FB! Which park did you go to? I do like the white with the background.
  • Thanks!  We went to Cherokee.  Which one are you going to?

  • Definitely Cherokee. I'm not sure about other locations. I should check into that. :)

See I would almost go NOT fall colors, so that you stand out in the picture.  In our e-pics, we are both wearing a light blue and it really pops against the red brick of the buildings around us.  I think it looks great!

  • LOVE the teal, or I also like dark plum (that top is available in both).

  • I love Snippy's outfit #1.

  • I really like the teal top. Honestly, because that cardigan's so neutral, I think any jewel tone (teal, berry, royal blue) would match just fine and also look seasonal.
