I'm in CT DJ hell, please help me knottie sisters...

Hello! I know I have a year until I get married and that's certainly enough time to find a DJ but I thought I had already and now I feel like I'm being ridiculous.  We had been to this wedding in Boston and they used Nuimage DJ.  Nuimage agreed to come to CT  for my wedding but at a cost of $3200..  Knowing they kept us dancing from the second we walked in until we left was so amazing, I mean we were even getting up during dinner, it was that good, but I have to believe I can find someone in CT who's as good rather than paying them all that money to come here.  I want DJs that are non-intrusive, no props and NO cheezy music.  I know I can make a "do not play" list but I want someone who I can have a conversation with and they'll just know.  We're looking at After Hours DJ, Frank C's, Correlation Productions, Dance to the Music and maybe A&B Entertainment.  Does anyone else have any good suggestions?  I don't want to make the wrong decision.  :)  thank  you!-amy

are you 100% hooked on a dj? would you consider playing an ipod? i know it's totally not the same, BUT it's definitely non-intrusive and you get to pick every single song that way. we played in ipod and honestly, i thought it was perfect!

We are using Mike Connolly from Mike Connolly Sound Productions (Southington).  He DJ'ed my friend's wedding and he is definitely not cheesy.  I cannot stand a cheesy, glow necklace giving, chicken dance playing dj!  :)  Good luck!

We used Marty Q out of Waterbury and LOVED him! He plays live sax during cocktail hour and dinner and the music he played kept our families on the dancefloor all night.

We're going with Frank C's. Very good and very reasonably priced. I've also been to 2 weddings with them as the DJ (Tim). I've only heard good reviews. Good luck!

We used Don Anderson of Tasteful Productions. He did both our ceremony music and reception music and came in a little over $1,000. His website is: www.tastefuldj.com He had everyone up and dancing the entire night. We had an awesome meeting with him and he played everything we wanted and more.

We are using A&B Entertainment. Dave was great to talk to during our initial meeting. Unfortunately we aren't married yet so I can't give a personal review, but he did come recommended by another knottie.

We used Latif from The Pros and couldn't have been happier! The price was great, less than $1k for 6hrs and 2 set ups (ceremony and reception). He and H communicated a ton before the wedding, he definitely had the dance floor full all night! On a side note, we didn't use them for DJ but we used Correlation Productions for lighting and it was AWESOME! It was a great addition to the reception, really happy that we did it and would totally recommend them. (We had booked our DJ before we looked into lighting so that is one of reasons that we didn't use them for that.)

I'm using Powerstation Events, their price is reasonable, not only am I using them though i've seen them in action and I can tell you I did not sit down!! I'm using David. I have a friend in CT thats getting married in Mass and had the same problem. He wanted to use the same DJ as his brother but he's charging them an insane amount of money for travel and insisting on overnight accommodations... I dont know who he used but for an hour and a half drive, that seems crazy!

Ditto Kim on Dance to the Music!! They kept our dance floor packed the entire night .... zero cheese! Sounds like you are looking for the exact thing DH and I were..&& we absolutely LOVED DDTM - our guests still rave about the fantastic time they had!

Yeah $3200 seems like a lot. I have to say the Ipod thing sounds good and all but I was at a wedding a few years ago that was a disaster doing that. They couldn't get it to work right and there was a feedback problem all night.

I know other people have mentioned Power Station, but I have to agree with them. We are using Charlie. I too had a really hard time finding a DJ, but when we talked with him I knew that he was the right fit. Since booking we went to a friends wedding where he was also the DJ. It went great.

I 2nd Mark the Shark. He has over 25 years of WEDDING experience. Most of the cheezy people do Barmitzfahs (sp?) so I steered clear of them. He was great to meet and reasonably priced!
