NWR: Advent

I'm a teacher at my church school for senior high, and I'm starting to prepare for advent.  Does anyone have any suggestions for good readings, and/or know a good place to buy advent candles?  I can't seem to find  purple/pink tapers anywhere!!

Michael's or Joann's? You may luck out at Target or Walmart. Also amazon sells anything now, at any time of year. I know a lot of stores are setting up for Christmas now for retails sake, but it may still be a little early for things that are particular to the Christianity of the holiday...which is really sad if you ask me. But I would check those place, definitely amazon as well.

As far as readings, I am a huge fan of all the Messianic prophesies in the Old Testament. It may be cool for an older student group to look at those in comparison between Old and New. You could even make it into some kind of game, like matching up the verses, giving them incentives, things like that. They may even find things you weren't aware of, given that there are literally hundreds of prophesies.

LifeWay christian stores usually has all sorts of liturgical and ceremonial-related items for churches, which may be what you are looking for.  I have seen candles there.  I think they also have an online store, so you could google it.  I've only been shopping at the location near me, not online, since it's so close.
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!
