Champagne toast question?

We are having a surprise dinner this saturday for my parents 25th wedding anniversary. We are going to have a champagne toast. Should this be done when they arrive, be fore dinner? Or after dinner before they cute they're cake?TIA

You could do it either, but I would probably do it before. Depending on how heavy of a dinner it is, people with a full stomach might not be able to appreciate the bubbly champagne.
