VENT!

I am so frustrated right now.  We scheduled our wedding for next July 17th because my FI was supposed to graduate mid-June in England along with 2 of his groomsmen (our wedding is here in dfw).  We booked everything except for the ceremony musicians and a florist.  For some reason I just assumed that he had double checked the dates and made sure they were okay before we booked everything.  Of course I was wrong.  He checked them today and informed me that the graduation ceremony is July 16th.  He is really upset because if we go ahead with the wedding on the 17th, he won't be able to walk and his friends won't be able to be in the wedding.  If it's possible, we may try to reschedule everything, but it's just so incredibly annoying.  I'm hoping that we don't lose our deposits on everything if we have to change the dates.  Our photographer is the one I'm most worried about because it says you lose the full deposit even if you just change dates.  I'm hoping she understands.  :/  Also, since we were planning on a summer wedding, I'm pretty sure our venue will be booked up for the rest of the summer, which will just push our wedding back even further. I love my FI, but Sweet Lord.  How hard is it to just check dates before you give the go ahead to schedule the most important day of your life?!!?!?AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think it would be possible to change the wedding to about a month before? That way he can walk across the stage and be a married man! Or maybe change the wedding to a week after the graduation? JMO. GL!

Danielle--I sure hope so.  We're getting married at Robert Carr and it was already pretty booked when we booked our date back in july.  I think we might just have to pick from the days that are left from the year or see if they'll let us have a sunday wedding or something.  Uber disappointing though.

Wow, I would be freaking out. But I'm sure you'll get everything worked out! Hopefully all your vendors will understand that you're not trying to ditch them, but if you do need more recommendations for anything, I'm sure everyone on here will be glad to help. Good luck, keep us updated!

Hey seeinstarts, most vendors I interviewed said that if I needed to change the date (in case of an emergency), I would not lose my deposit as long as I am still using them. So you just have to call all your vendors and see what common date they have free left... hopefully it's not too long after July 17!

Robert Carr?  Holy Crap.  I bet Saturday nights are out (I checked in May and they had February or November open and that was it for the year).... however I'm sure you can do a Saturday afternoon wedding there pretty easily. Sorry about the trouble your having... I would be beyond myself.  Like pp said, I bet you can reschedule your vendors as long as your still using them.   Finding a common day they are available will be the biggest challenge.   Good luck, and I'm really sorry!

Oh no!  I have absolutely no advice to give, but just want you to know that I totally feel for you and would be absolutely losing it if I were in your shoes.  I really hope everything works out for you.

You might consider a Sunday if it makes it easier to keep your location. I did mine the Sunday before Labor Day - it was great - esp for people traveling in Saturday and out Monday- they didn't have to take off work and I saved money on some things.
