Band recommendations in Rockland/Westchester?

Hi, I thought we will be ok with hiring a DJ, but a bunch of my friends who have gotten married in the past year or so, recommend a band over a DJ. I have no idea what the cost is, and what is reasonable to pay for a good band. Can you recommend a good band in Rockland/Westchester? How early do we have to book a band? Thank you, Ela

    I loved my band www.thetouchpage.com.  They are based out of LI but travel.  I paid under 6k.  We booked the band about 11 months out.  Some bands will book quicker than others so it's hard to say when to book.  The same for a DJ though.  If you want a specific MC, you need to go sooner rather than later.

    The band we're using, Soul Revival is AMAZING. They are affordable and play everything, we booked them about 6 ago, but I'm getting married in the off season. Check them out, www.soulrevivalband.com

    We booked the Dreamteam of the NYC Swing company.  They are pricey (for 10 pieces), but willing to negotiate.  Ask for Joe Shane.Many bands don't play a live showcase, but instead only have a studio recorded CD.  We wouldn't book a band this way.  We wanted to see and hear the band to see if they were the right fit for us.

    I have to recommend my band who are also friends of mine..they are playing my 11.7.09 wedding and my best friend's wedding on 4.16.11....FDR Band..ask for Neal..they are amazing!! Tell them Jenny Forte recommended you!fdrdriveband.com

    Both DH and I, and our guests loved ETA Music. I think it would be around 5k for 5 pieces, and up from there. This was from 2 years ago, but I really love telling people about them because they were so fantastic. Good luck!

    Thank you All. Definitely cannot afford paying anything more than $7K so the 10 piece one will prolly not fly, but I will contact them all and see what I could get :) Thank you!!

    Bud Maltin..... they were AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING.... everyone said the band (7 people total) sounded awesome and they had the people on the dance floor all night.  I loved them and would definitely recommend them.  They should be in your price range, too.
