the garlic is to protect herself and the kids from h1n1. no, i don't know how this works, or how she thinks it works. it's like kinoki foot pads for the flu.
She could just buy garlic pills. They're super cheap (well, last time I used them). I used to feed them to the dogs to keep fleas/ticks off. SIDE BENEFIT.
Garlic is a natural immune booster I believe. However, it's not going to "protect" you from anything. It just helps make you overall healthier. You can still get sick. Hell, you can have the vaccine and STILL.GET.SICK.
If the kids need garlic to protect them from H1N1, then why not just make a meal that garlic is supposed to go in......oh wait, I forgot that reasonable ideas aren't something she's into.
Her natural remedies are a crock of crap. Echinacea was shown to be relatively ineffective against illness, and has more of a placebo effect. None of those will prevent you from getting sick. Sure, you may have a great immune system but if you don't have antibodies to whatever is that's out there...you get sick.
from the comments:We are at the very tail end of having H1N1 run through our family. All 6 of our kids got it. Me, the 7 month pregnant mama did not. I know it was first the protection of God and many people praying for my baby and me but I also was religiously drinking emergen-c, taking liquid silver, elderberry, and eating GOOD foods. No sugar or garbage. 2 of our kids got the secondary infections which required hospital visits. The most scary thing about this flu to me was how fast it hit and then how varied the kids would feel throughout the days. They would say they felt better and my heart would have a bit of relief for them and then BAM out of nowhere again they were going downhill. It was a 2 1/2 week roller coaster ride for sure. As scary as some of those moments were, there is NO way I would vax our kids or myself. We don't vax period.
Um, she's lucky she didn't get H1N1 pregnant. My doc was saying yesterday to me that they are seeing issues with babies born to mothers who have had H1N1. I'd rather get a vaccine then have a dead baby. That's just me.
I know I'm going to regret asking, but why are these people so anti-vaccination when they are willing to participate in other aspects of modern medicine (like the ER)? Is this logic going to be as tortured as the rest of the under1000 logic?
fish, this is a jenny mccarthy question. she believes that vaccinations gave her kid autism. but it's okay, because he's cured now. i think jim carrey cured him.
OK, so they're also a part of the crazy vaccinations lead to autism crowd. I was thinking they had their own logic, but clearly I was giving them too much credit.
Jim Carrey is never cool. NEVER. And this A Christmas Carol. It's like the new creepy Tom Hanks Polar Express. I hate Jim Carrey. He is the reason there is autism.
I got the H1N1 vaccine. quick up the nose and it's done. I'd rather have the vaccine than risk getting sick. I ride the subway everyday and people in NYC are GROSS.
I am absolutely FLOORED that she thinks her kids are going ot have a "refined palette". No, they're not. They'll be healthy, but the first time they actually go to a real restaurant and have great food with spices, cooked properly, and presented nicely, they are going to think that they've died and gone to heaven. And that'll just be TGI Friday's. God forbid they ever end up in a high end gourmet restaurant.
v, i'm afraid that they will have the opposite reaction. everything will be too spicy. i am going to have to try one of her stevia recipes. i want to see how sweet it is.
but the first time they actually go to a real restaurant and have great food with spices, cooked properly, and presented nicely, they are going to think that they've died and gone to heaven. OR their stomachs won't be able to take it and they'll schit for hours afterward.
