Huntington, WV Vendors

Hey everyone! I'm getting married Oct 16, 2010 and starting to book my vendors.. Right now I'm looking for a florist, DJ, and photographer.I've looked around a lot online and have met with a couple photographers, but I wanted some opinions from people who have actually used them. Has anyone used Makin Musik DJ from Kenova? Or have any other recommendations that don't charge over $500-$600? Any photographers? (I've met with ALN photography and Kathy Morgan) And I'd like to go with a less mainstream florist (so not Archer's or Spurlock's) Thanks everyone!! :)

If you are having an outdoor wedding, Emily Porter does beautiful work. She is in Charleston, but does travel. http://emilyporterphotography.com/ Her blog is nice, too. http://blog.emilyporterphoto.com/

ohhhh Emily Porter has beautiful photos!! But, sadly, I don't think I can afford her.. :-/

ALN Photography is doing our photos. She was wonderful when we met her. We are also using CK Florist in Kenova. Just remember, less mainstream can mean more $$. Their estimate was quite pricey, but the girl there is also a wedding planner and can do just about anything you need, not just flowers.

we're using lisa muncy as our photographer- check her out, luckyacephoto.com. she's from wayne, but her studio is in huntington. her prices aren't "cheap"... but i consider them very reasonable for the AMAZING work she does! a friend of mine recommended her, and after i looked at her stuff... i knew she had to be our photographer. she doesn't photoshop the heck out of the pictures. they are clean, simple photos. LOVE THEM. we had our engagment pictures done by her this past thursday (10/29/09)... and i can not wait to see the proofs.

Hey all! I'm a party planner (weddings, events, other)

here are the two photographers  I suggest when it comes to...  If at all possible, having two photographers allows for you to get great shots from multiple angles.  Just something to consider.  And, different photographers have different styles.  But, not everyone can afford two photographers.  You can ask about understudies or even check local schools for student photographers for reasonable rates.  :)

    Photography...

Heather Smith - her website is
    http://www.hsphotography.org/

Amber Hope - her website is
    http://www.amberhopephotography.com/#

They are reasonably priced & do fantastic work.  &, if considering two photographers, they would work well together.  Their preferred medium is natural light, but they do other work beautifully as well.

    As for DJ's...

DJ Thunder does fantastic work.  & has different packages for everyone.

Just tell any of these that Chas sent ya!

Good luck! And it's YOUR day! Remember, it's all about your vision!

I have not used them, but I have been to a wedding where the bride and groom did use discjockeysnow.com.  It was terrible.  The actual disc jockey that was assigned to the wedding did not show up and got a substitute to perform.  His sound system consisted of an ipod and ipod speakers.  He did not have the proper music that was supposed to be played, either.  To discjockeysnow.com's credit, the owner, Michael (last name unknown) did refund the amount paid and an extra $100 to the bride and groom, but is threatening to sue them because of the negative reviews that were posted, even though all of the reviews are factually true.  I definitely would not used them when my daughter gets married, but I'm sure that the have done a good job for many weddings.
  • Hi Knotties,
I used discjockeysnow for my wedding. It was in October on 10/20/2012 (almost married for 2 months now and things are pretty awesome so far) and we had a great time. We really liked all the musical selections. The DJ was super nice and kinda hot. My maid of honor kinda hit on him lol but he was already married. I will get that girl a husband some day. She is so cool but has had bad luck with guys, just like me til I met my new husband Kenny and now we're so happy. We would reccommend discjockeysnow to anybody looking for a good DJ without a lot of money to spend. Thanks.
