Venue Appointment Reviews

Hello ladies! So I had a weekend full of appointments to go check out potential venues. Ebell Club - I liked it but I didnt love it. Something that I didnt care for was the additional fees that they add on for Day of Wedding Coordinator and Shuttle Parking. Earlier this month, we let our planner go because she just was NOT cutting it so we have since then decided to do this all on our own. With that being said, if we dont have a coordinator, we have to pay $895 and since there is no parking, you have to get a shuttle. Since I will have more than 100 guests, it will require I get 2 shuttles at a cost of $995. It would be different if I had fallen in love with Ebell Club but I didnt so to me, the additional fees are a turn off. Malibou Lake Mountain Club - NOT impressed...plus we got a vibe from the lady that she really didnt want us there. She knew our date and she told me that she would keep me updated if anyone else showed any interest. Well, I called her to let her know that we were going to be running a little late and she told me that she had a 12:30 pm (our appt was at 12) and we would figure it all out when we got there if there was a conflict. We arrived around 12:10 pm and as soon as we got out, she asked what our date was. We told her 10-10-10 and she said "I just booked that date an hour ago." HOW RUDE! She could have told me that when I called her to let her know that we were running a little behind. UGH!Anoush - I really liked the lady that I was dealing with...the place is just ok and the menu is NOT something that we like. The Grand (Long Beach Event Center) - Well, the lady that I was supposed to be meeting with double booked and didnt realize it. She had another lady apologize to me (I think she should have done it herself) so I ended up meeting with someone else. I actually LOVED that lady that I was dealing with. She just got engaged and she is getting married next September. Anyway, there is still one room left for my date (the room I was interested in online) but the ceremony area is booked for that day (which I am ok with since we want a church wedding). There was a fashion show going on in there that day so I saw what it looked like set up. I FELL IN LOVE! The only thing is, I would like to see it when it is NOT set up...I am wonder if I fell in love with the way the people had it set up. I saw another wedding set up and it was REALLY nice! They host several events at one time but you would never know when you are in the room you are in. So I am sure we will go see it again. The space was great!Anyway, this week, I will be looking around more and trying to make more appointments to go and check out. Also, if you ladies have any suggestions, I am open to them!    :-D

Hi, not sure what type of venue you are searching for but have you check with the Aquarium in Long Beach, it was too pricey for us but lovely. We are having our ceremony at the Cerritos Sheraton, its really nice, they have several rooms of different sizes. I didnt like anoush, but i went to a reception there and the food was excellent, very delicious. Good luck :)

Ive been to the Aquarium but I am not sure I would want a wedding there...I will bring it up to FI and see what he says. Anoush - The food didnt seem appealing to me at all for some reason. We are both picky eaters...so that doesnt help!

Did you look at the Ebell in Los Angeles or in Long Beach? I am doing our wedding at the Long Beach Ebell and I love the space.

I'm getting married at The Castaway in Burbank, I don't know if you've been there or not...but the rooms are nice and spacious and have great views to the city or mountains. We are having about 150 guests. The service has been great so far and they have great packages. They also have an outside space if you're looking for an outdoor wedding. GL HTH.
