Strings...

Did anybody use/is anybody using a string quartet or trio?  We are trying to find a good one, but there are a lot of choices and basically all look the same on paper...TIA

We're using Serenata Strings.  For a quartet for 1 hour, they were the cheapest.  The prices are very similar though.  I believe if you want a trio, then one of the other groups (Aria?) is cheaper.  But again, the difference is not a lot.

I've never seen a bad review on any of them:  Aria, Stradivarius, Forte Strings, etc.  I'm using Four Strings in Denton.

I am also using Serenata Strings! I meet with karen Sunday and she is going to play some things from this book I got including what I was planning on walking down the aisle too because I am not sure it is going to sound like I am hearing it in my head...and I don't have a backup plan! But I got a really good vibe from the cellist I saw at a bridal show and they were the cheapest of those that were there so I went with them.

I used a woman I work with and three former teachers.  They charged me $400.  They only did my ceremony so I don't know if that's the base price for all parts of the wedding or if it goes up if you want more time.

I am paying 280 for an hour for a cellist and violinist. Just a cellist would have been 200.

I was looking into a quartet or trio and checking out all the options as well when someone on the board mentioned a harpist.  I hadn't thought of it before, and it (seems) really unique and beautiful to me so I went with it.  I was able to find a fantastic performer with an amazing resume for $300 for our ceremony.Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you are open to other strings.

After hearing the harp play at Easter at our church, I really wished that I had thought of using it before.  However, it was a little too late for us.

we've narrowed it down to fourstrings and serenata.  we have a couple of specific things we want played, so we're looking to see who can work with us and who is the best deal.  :)  thanks ladies.

Just thought I would throw it out there a little late though..we are using Pavane string quartet.  They are about same price as others but FI's orchestra teacher, their work is so beautiful.

We had Serenata Strings at our wedding a couple weeks ago. They played a few things that aren't the norm. At least I don't think they are and they sounded wonderful. I highly rec them.

I think we might use Serenata because they list a lot of popular songs in their repertoire, which means that they already have arrangements of those and I wouldn't have to pay extra! :)
