is this a good/bad idea for bmaid gifts

Let me start by saying I have 6 girls (not to mention 2 flowergirls in my wedding) I was thinking about getting them a $25 gift card to a place they like (bookstore for those who read, restaurant, etc....) and then maybe a frame with a favorite picture, and a personalized note.   I would love to get them all really nice things but it's just not in the budget.   When I threw out this idea out, i got a very negative response from some people. I'm just not into the monogrammed bags, jewelry etc and would rather spent money on something they will use instead of the traditional gifts we've all recieved before and promptly threw in a drawer.

    I can't tell you whether or not they would like it.  I love getting gift cards because then I have money to spend at places I like and I'm forced to spend some "fun" money on myself, but other people find them impersonal.

    I personally LOVE it when brides give gcs instead of jewelry and bags. I will DEFINITELY use a starbucks card, while I won't use a mongrammed bag ever. The picture frame and the note is sweet too.

    I am one of those people who finds gcs impersonal, it doesn't have to cost much, but find something for them, the frames sound good, especially with a picture of you and them in it, personally I would love that.

    I think the frame and the note makes the gift a bit more personalized.  I also think that if you get each one a different GC according to her interests, it shows that you put a little more thought into it than if you get them all a gift to the same store.  Sounds like you have the right idea.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    I think it's a great idea.  Personalizing gifts (really personalizing like you are, not monogramming some piece of junk to "personalize" it) is always a good way to go.

    Love it.  I've received a monogrammed bag - I never use it.  GCs you can always use and I like the idea of including the personal note and picture to personalize it.

    I like this idea because you are giving them a gift card (something they will use) with something personal (frame, pic, note). I think it's perfect!
