Ideas on small family beach reception

im getting married in a year in Hawaii. We are having about 10 family members attend. The wedding will be small and on the beach but I need advise on where to go after. I don't want to just take everyone to a restaurant, wearing my wedding dress, but I also don't want to rent out a huge reception hall for 10 guests. Any suggestions on if restaurants offer to rent out patios and decorate one large table or something? We though of hiring a cartering company to set up a table, decorate it and serve dinner on the beach but it's to expensive. Any ideas? :)

Hi, welcome to the board!!  This is a great resource and ppl are really knowledgeable on here.  You'll love it!

First of all, which island are you thinking of (Oahu, Maui)?  I have to say the most popular choice of receptions after beach weddings is hosting a brunch or dinner at a restaurant.  Which beach are you thinking of?  On Maui south-side, Gannons, Five Palms, Duo, Spagos, Mala, etc. tend to be popular.  Most restaurants are used to hosting weddings and they can set-up according to your preferences.  If you want to decorate a large table, you will have to hire a florist or outside vendor for decor items.  If you're worried about set-up, you could always hire a day-of coordinator to assist with all the details.  Hope this helps!!  :)

Welcome, I would start with a coordinator. There are a lot of posts here to help you pick one but basically its the one that clicks when you talk to them and responds in the manner that works for you. A good coordinator will help you with the reception part also and can give you ideas.  I know that there are some caterers that can set up on the beach and may not be as pricey as you think.

Hotels offer small banquet rooms that could host a dinner too.

I'm also getting married next May in Oahu & we will have about 25-35 people. We want it to be a small & Intimate affair. We would like to have our ceremony on or near the beach. Any recommendations for wedding coordinators, photographer, decorating vendor, florist, reception venue, ceremony venue, etc. Did I miss anything? I find it a little overwhelming. We do like Studio Red for Videographer. Any comments or reviews on them?

    Thanks.

Maui is the place for nice beaches and weddings....South Maui with Makena has some gorgeous places to get married, same West Maui (we got married here) Kapalua Bay or Napili Bay. A good way to start is connecting with the wedding coordinators, a good one is Shasta from mauiweddingsfromtheheart.com or any other member of the Maui Wedding Association. I would take a harpist (Harpist Tatyana, you can book them through the coordinators) which is so cool at the beach or a duet with a singer unless you want Ukulele.... Maui is the top location to get married. good luck
