    You can always increase it, in fact USAA had just recently sent me a post card saying that I could double my life insurance without another physical. I should have looked into it more but have been so busy I missed the deadline for it. Good luck!

    Awesome :)We already have auto through usaa and will get our home insurance through them as well. It's so much easier if we can get all three from the same company/group.

    Katie - To answer your last question about being able to get life insurance once the term runs out in 30 years: Depending on his health, he should be able to get coverage, but it will obviously be more expensive at that point. In any event, your goal as a family would be to not need life insurance at that point: You should have built up enough wealth to replace your need for life insurance. You'd be self-insured. You may decide to purchase a policy at that point for estate planning reasons, but you shouldn't depend on a policy to provide for your retirement as that's what you'll be saving for over the next 30 years...
