Wedding Night Hotel Advice

Hey Girls!   I really need some advice!  Here’s the situation:

We are having our ceremony and reception in Fort Worth, and were planning on spending our wedding night in Downtown Fort Worth, since we live in Dallas.  However, we wanted to stay at the Omni, but it is already completely booked, as are the other nicer hotels in the area.  We really don’t want to spend our wedding night in an average hotel.  We want a nicer 4 star hotel, instead.  There are some amazing hotels in Downtown Dallas that we are considering (The Stoneleigh, The Joule, etc), but is it crazy to drive from Fort Worth to Dallas just to stay in a hotel for the night of?  We drive to Fort Worth from Dallas at least once a week, because my fiance’s family lives there, so we are used to the drive, I just didn’t know if we would be too exhausted to make that drive after the wedding.   Any advice is helpful!

Re: Wedding Night Hotel Advice

  • I was wiped out by the end of all the festivities, and that was 9:30 or so.  If it's just one night, you might be better served finding something in FW.

But really it's up to you.

Have you looked for B&Bs in the area?--they can be romantic.

Also, don't rule out smaller hotels, they could surprise you. Some Hilton Garden Inns and Homewood Suites are very nice! Modern, clean, comfy beds, free breakfast, etc.
  • Why not pick something between? The Gaylord in Grapevine comes to mind, or the Omni Mandalay in Las Colinas is nice. There is also a Four Seasons in Irving.

Personally, I think I would be too tired to do that, unless I had a driver. Are you flying out the next day or anything? You could always stay somewhere near the airport and that would give you some extra time the next day.

Also, have you tried the Ashton or the Hilton in FW? The Ashton is small so if the Omni is booked then I'm guessing it would be too, but it's worth a try.

This is great advice.  H and I stayed at the Hotel St. Germaine in Uptown the night of our wedding.  We'd never even heard of it, but it's a tiny little B&B off of Routh and it was just gorgeous.  You really get a lot out of the little hotels that you might not get at some of the major ones!

I would find somewhere close to stay. If not in FW then close. We had our wedding in colleyville, but we stayed at the Gaylord in grapevine. We had the car service come get us last minute decision and I'm so glad we did. It would have been terrible to have to drive ourselves back.

  • There's also a very nice Hilton in Southlake, a nice Marriot in Westlake and the two Hyatt's at the airport.
  • Try The Worthington Renaissance or The Ashton both in Ft. Worth.

  • Thanks everyone!  I'll definitely look into all of these ideas!
I sent you a PM roseofdeborah:)
  • Not sure where we are staying yet.  We may stay at Homewood Suites close to our venue OR we may hit up Four Seasons.  I have reservations already at both.

Ditto these -- or any hotel in downtown FW, you might inquire about their suites.

Other things to consider -- do you think you might have any kind of informal afterparty with friends? Will you be drinking at your reception? How long/tiring will your day be?

We had a ton of OOT friends here the weekend of our wedding, so we went out with them both nights -- the night of the RD and after the wedding. I was glad we had stayed close so that was an option. Also, we'd both had alcohol and were running on nerves/excitement/little sleep -- so there was no way either of us were driving any distance. And also, I wanted to have brunch with my OOT family in the morning before heading off to the honeymoon, so I stayed where they were staying. I did consider getting a suite in a nicer hotel for the wedding night, but ended up opting to just stay where everyone else was (Holiday Inn Express). We really just used it as a crash pad and then we were off for our much more romantic digs on our honeymoon.
