Marriage liscense

I know this has been posted but I'm just double checking b/c our priest wasn't sure at our final meeting today. We both live in Pitma/Glassboro....we have a Pitman mailing address but pay taxes in Glassboro.  We are getting married in Washington Twp.We get our marriage liscense in Glassboro right?  Our priest thought it was in Washington Twp so I wanted to make sure.Glassboro's process is tough...they are only there 3 days a week and two times (10:30 or 2:30)  Is that how they all are?

I'm not getting married until next year, but according to the NJ website, "The marriage license application is to be made in the New Jersey municipality in which either party resides and the license is valid throughout the State of New Jersey."  If you pay taxes to Glassboro, I would assume you are in that Borough/Twp.I'll be interested in seeing others' responses.

Ditto what pp said-you get it in the town in which you live.  We will be doing this soon! I can't believe December is next month!! :-)

I tink you get your marriage license in the town you get married-- that's what we did. We got married in Gloucester Twp, but we live in NYC now. I would callt he municipal offices to check!

Def check with your town, nygirl b/c I know my MOH got the liscense in the town where she and FI live and not in the town where they got married, which was only 2 towns away.

We live in Franklinville, got married in Woodbury. We applied for our license in Franklinville; we picked up the certified marriage certificate AFTER our wedding in Woodbury. Most towns have a window of time that the office is open and you can just walk-in, but perhaps some have specific times???

JSan - If you live out of state (which I do too) you get the license in the town in which you are marrying.  If you live in-state you go to the office in your own town.  I dont know why they have to make it confusing :)

You apply for your marriage license in the town that is your legal residence and then it is good for any town in NJ.

Cush34, thanks for clearing that up, too much confusion over this topic!

I may be late on this, but if nothing has changed, I believe you would have to obtain the marriage license from the town in which the bride resides. There is a three day waiting period. The license itself is valid for up to 30 days before the wedding. I would assume that if you live in the municipality of Pitman that you would obtain the license in Pitman, however, I could be wrong on this point.

I just wanted to add and clarify that this differs from state to state. By New Jersey law, you must obtain the marriage license in the town in which the bride legally resides.
