Wedding Gifts for Parents of the Bride & Groom??

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what gifts my fiance and I should give to our parents as wedding gifts?  I would like to do something different than just giving them a nice frame or even a small photo album from the wedding. Thanks!Laura

My parents have helped a ton with their and financial so I also was trying to think of a special gift.  One idea I have now is a gift certificate to 1 or 2 nights a nice B&B.  Also a gift certificate to a resturant they've been wanting to try is nice.

Just curious what's the etiquette for gifts when the bride and groom are paying for everything?  That's our situation and we aren't having a rehearsal dinner.  If we have to get gifts, I certainly want to keep it on the very small/light side.Thanks.

My parents paid for almost everything, DH's parents chipped in a big chunk and we paid for some. With that said, we got our parents the same gift - a Skyline Princess dinner cruise. We just cashed in on it (two years later!) last month - all 6 of us went. It was very nice. Since my mom was the biggest help of all the parents, I also treated her to a body bronzing session (we went together two days before the wedding) at Red Door.

if you are paying, i don't think you have to get them anything. but a picture with the "new family" (your parents and sibling, his parents and sibling, you and your fiancee) in a nice frame is sweet and inexpensive.

i haven't decided what to give my parents since we are 8 months away, but their 40th anniversary is this weekend and my brother and i are giving them a guided tasting tour of the North Fork wineries and a fancy dinner at one of the sites.

We gave both sets of parents a dogwood tree.  We wrapped up a trivet that was in the shape of a dogwood flower and gave them that at the rehearsal dinner and then made later arrangements for the tree.  The Christmas after the wedding we gave both sets of parents a Shutterfly album.
