Name Change at the SS Office?

So it's been 3 months since I got married, and I finally decided to change my name at the SS office. After waiting 2+ hours, I finally got called, but it turns out that what I thought was my marriage license was only a copy! But that's the only thing that was mailed to us after our wedding, so I thought it was the original. So do you girls know how to get the original? I'm so frustrated right now, and a little confused. Any help would be appreciated!

    After the ceremony and signatures our officiant took it with him and was in charge of mailing it out and everything.  Did yours?  I would contact your officiant if so.

    Never mind, mystery solved. I just talked to my husband. This morning I asked him to get our license out of the safe since I needed it. Turns out he gave me the copy, because he didn't trust me with the original and thought the copy would work just fine!!! So apparently I've regressed into a child who can't be trusted with a piece of paper. Fabulous. Now I get to go back on Friday and wait some more.

    oh good good.  My H doesn't trust me with anything like that either... I thought for MONTHS that I threw out our new passports that we got after the wedding (we had to pay for them) and a couple months ago he was looking for something in the spare bedroom and found them in one of the dresser draws sitting right on top.  Now he has hidden our passports, ML, birth certificates, and lord knows what other papers from me and won't tell me lol

    Sorry that happened sharon! I'm the one who keeps the important papers at our house...so I knew where to find everything when I changed my name. Glad you got everything straightened out, though--if I were you I would have been going crazy!
