Gol/Nickel Allergy - Help please

Hi everyone!I hope someone can help me. I`m not able to wear gold/white gold, basicly any kind of gold. The only thing I have been able to wear for the last 10 years is silver. Now that we have started talking about engagement rings, we started wondering if platinum is safe for me to wear. I have never tried one on, so I was wondering if anyone knows if that would work.     go to a jewelry store and try on some platinum rings.

    i would ask the jewelry stores what they thought or you could call your dr and ask if platnium will cause the same allergy.

    I have the same problem even though I did opt for a 18k white gold ring. I just wear my ring when I leave the house. I plan on having it redipped before the wedding.I would ask the jewelry stores for alternatives. Stainless steel is one alternative, though it is not as fashionable. I'm have read that many platinum rings as well as gold and palladium have nickel cores. HTH

    I also have an allergy to any gold less than 24K (aand then sometimes its a crapshoot) and all nickel. Sterling silver is ok, and my e-ring is platinum and I haven't had any problems with it. They are not making rings out of tungsten and other alloys, but I would suggest trying them on and seeing if you react. Funny story- I didnt get my ears pierced until I was in college because my mother couldn't fathom why anyone would put 24K gold earrings on a kid. I kind of agree with her.

    Both me and my sister have nickel allergies. I have a platinum ring and she has palladium ring. I have never had a problem with my ring irritating my finger, however my sister has had a little irritation. Unfortunately there is no way to get an inexpensive platinum ring to try, but as far as I have heard and experienced you may have better luck with it. 950 Platinum should not have nickel in it, but Palladium jewelry can be made with a mixture of 18K gold and palladium. That may be why my sister reacts to her ring. Talk to a jeweler about exactly what metal mixtures they use to see if it would be safe for you to wear.

    The jewler I went to aslo mentioned ruthenium, but it's really expensive.

    I'm allergic to EVERYTHING but sterling silver. I've tried a million karats of gold, tungsten, plastic, nickel free, titanium, even surgical steel. But nothing has worked except sterling until now. My engagment ring is platinum and I've had zero problems! I talked to my doc and he said platinum is clos enough to sterling to trick your body into thinking its ok. HTP and GL
