Knottie Disclaimer: I'm an unabashed Christmas-holic. Enough said. What part of the holidays are you most looking forward to this year? Introducing BF to my extended family (we're staying with my fam in Ohio this year). Going to see my cousin's wedding dress and try on BM dresses for her wedding in October. Sitting on the couch in front of my mom's Christmas tree with the BF, watching the snow fall. :)Any big holiday plans this year?I have a Christmas dinner party with friends every year about 2-3 weeks before the holiday (before we all leave to go home), and we're talking about doing a cookie exchange at some point. Going to Cleveland for the Christmas holiday, and BF's family is meeting us back in Florida for New Years. How do you decorate for the holidays? Look, I'll admit it, I'm a Martha Stewart protege. I'm not even trying to hide it. My entire Christmas is all color-coordinated with blue, silver and white...it started simply as those were the colors I liked, and then I inherited a lot of my grandmother's Christmas decorations (same colors) when she passed last spring, so now I wouldn't change it for the world. Nearly my entire tree is fish or marine animal ornaments (marine biologist...get it?!?)...I think my mom's managed to find every fish-themed ornament ever made. It takes a lot of work to put everything out and such, but in the end, it makes for a really beautiful Christmas.Any Christmas gifts you're really excited about giving? I shot my cousin's engagement photos for her in May, so I'm putting together a photography book for her and her fiance for Christmas. I'm taking portraits of my BF and framing them for his mom (she apparently has virtually no new photos of him). Favorite holiday tradition? I have a Christmas dinner party with friends every year...a big homecooked meal, lots of wine and candles and holiday music, Gag Gift Secret Santa, and drunken party games. It's always a great time.I also love decorating the tree...I always order in Chinese food, put on the pjs, watch the Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph, and decorate the tree.Favorite holiday song? Otis Redding - White ChristmasVince Guaraldi - Christmastime is HereNat King Cole - Chestnuts Roasting on An Open FireFavorite holiday movie? Either "The Holiday" or "Love Actually".Favorite holiday food? My mom makes these chocolate barks - one is milk chocolate with pretzel, the other is white chocolate with broken up candy cane. Holy mother, I could eat a pound in one sitting if I wasn't careful. Is October too early for Christmas paraphernalia to be out in stores? Um, I bought my Christmas lights on sale at Target for $1.99 a string in September. ::hangs head in shame::

What part of the holidays are you most looking forward to this year? All of it! I loove Christmas haha. My favourite part of the holidays every year is wrapping. I have so much fun wrapping presents. Any big holiday plans this year? Nothing unusual, although BF and I may start a new tradition with his brother and FI...after going to Grandma's on Christmas Eve, we're going to go back to their Mom's place (this year, next year it will probably be at our place) and get drunk. Why...because we can. How do you decorate for the holidays? I don't decorate at my house much, because I'll be at my parents for Christmas and I don't have many ornaments. The whole family comes together at Mom & Dad's one day and does all of it...we put up the tree, decorate...my Mom has zillions of ornaments. All to the tune of Christmas carols. Any Christmas gifts you're really excited about giving? I'll get back to you on that after I've done some shopping. Favorite holiday tradition? Decorating with the family! Favorite holiday song? That's a tough one...I don't actually know. Favorite holiday movie? Honestly, I am still in love with The Grinch. Favorite holiday food? All the desserts: square, cakes, different loafs, cookies...mmm!
He pretty much had me at "hello".

What part of the holidays are you most looking forward to this year?Being engaged as i know it's coming and of course being able to celebrate the holidays with the boyfriend and his amazing family!I'll be honest, the BF has been hinting that a proposal will definitely be coming before we go to Ohio for Christmas. I'm trying not to get my hopes up (in case life's little hiccups get in the way), but I'll admit, a little bit of me is excited at the prospect of being engaged when we go home and getting to celebrate with the family.

OCEAN!! I love Martha Stewart!! :) she has the best ideas EVER! lol Lol, amber, I truly do heart you.I'm not nearly as crafty as good ol Martha (I'm sorry, I'm a full time Ph.D. student, have a full time job, and have a BF, a dog, and photography and scuba diving hobbies to feed, I don't have time to paper-machete my own chicken cake), but I do love how beautiful her setups are. That's where I tend to be a little like her - I'm big on the color-coordination, the little details, the pretty little touches.Perfect example of this touch of madness? rickylee coming over on Halloween and busting into laughter because our entire apartment was decorated for Halloween in blood red and black with 5 billion candles everywhere, and a full spread of food out. And I quote: "Martha strikes again..." LOL

Maybe this year FMIL will actually let me come to her house on Christmas day like everyone else. lolHow do you decorate for the holidays?I put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. It's a very old tree (was my great-grandma's), and we cover it in bright-colored ornaments, multi-color lights, red tinsel, just everything. I really fill in those old branches! Plus, we have extra lights so I will put some in our big front window and get some clings that say things like "Peace on Earth" "Wish Big!" and "Let it Snow" (which is funny, we live in Louisiana-- it NEVER snows).Any Christmas gifts you're really excited about giving?Haven't gone shopping just yet, but I will be soon! Hooray!! I What part of the holidays are you most looking forward to this year?Decorating the house is always my favorite part. Any big holiday plans this year?We actually have less plans than usual, the past few years we've gone on a vacation (vegas, disney, etc) the day after Christmas for a week or so but we're opting to stay home this year since we went on a cruise this summer. As far as celebrating though we're splitting time with the families like always. It's a bit different this year though b/c my father won't be around *sadface* but my brother will be for the first time in four years *happyface* so I'm not sure what the schedule is yet.How do you decorate for the holidays?By the time I'm done it sort of looks like Christmas threw up everywhere. Lots of lighted things, lights, knicknacks, etc. Some people call it tacky but I think you can't have Christmas with out it!Any Christmas gifts you're really excited about giving?Super excited about giving BF the quilt I'm making him out of his beloved t-shirts I made him throw away when we first moved in together. That was 2 years ago so he's long forgotten about them.Favorite holiday tradition?I honestly don't have anymore steadfast traditions anymore. It used to be reading the night before christmas with my dad before bed time and then it was going down to NYC on Christmas Eve because it was empty and super festive, the the last few years it was having a sleep over at my moms b/c she was alone, but I don['t think that's happening anymore either. I guess we need to find a routine before we start up traditions or bring back old ones again. :-)Favorite holiday song?Holly Jolly Christmas, there is no song in the world that makes me happier, it's always been that way, so much so that whenever people hear it on the radio they call or text me to let me know. LOL I pretty much love any Christmas song but if I'm in a down frame of mind they're hit me hard and start the waterworks, but something about Burle Ives perks me up everytime!Favorite holiday movie?A Christmas Story. 100% Hands down I start watching it sometime in November and hit it about once a week until the big Chrismas Marathon. I've been doing that for as long as I can remember, I can recite the entire movie in my sleep now. :-)Favorite holiday food?Peanut Butter Balls. These amazing treats that my mother and I have been making together since I developed the motorskills to help. A colossal favorite amount family and friend, they're in ultra high demand as soon as the snow starts falling.

I had a small tree, about 3 feet, I called it the Chanukah bush!  Our Jewish holiday traditions have sort of phased out though.  So nobody in my family really does anything for them anymore. What part of the holidays are you most looking forward to this year? Spending my birthday and Christmas with SO and DS. We are possibly spending Christmas eve/day with with his family. Any big holiday plans this year? SO is taking a week off from work. We will spend a few days with my family, then get the heck out and spend a few days with his family lol. My family is, nicely put, different. Oh, I almost forgot! my half sister, who I have never met, is coming to visit for a few days in the beginning of December.  It should be interesting! How do you decorate for the holidays?I used to hang garland all around the house.  I put lights around windows and railings, put up the tree, scented candles everywhere...  Since leaving STBX and everything else behind, I am thinking that I'll make garland and snowflakes with DS and hang them up.  It will probably feel like the inside of a classroom more than anything, but I have to do something lolAny Christmas gifts you're really excited about giving?I haven't done any shopping yet, but I'm pretty sure DS is going to get a train set of some sort.  He should be really excited over that.Favorite holiday tradition?baking and wrapping presents on Christmas eve while listening to holiday music.Favorite holiday song?Carol of the Bells.Favorite holiday movie?Rudolph (Burl Ives version)Favorite holiday food? the many types of cookies and other confections that I bake.  Last year I made mocha chocolate truffles for the first time, they were delish!

RedMinx -  I love using that phrase because it's what fell out of my old roommates mouth the 1st Christmas we lived together. He was more of a white lights kind of guy so my colorful explosion was a bit of a shock.
