March 2012 Weddings

Venue update and FIs ring!

Hi ladies. This weekend our venue had an open house so we got to go check it out all decked out for a wedding. At the bottom, there is a poll question for you to weight in on, too!

So, first, FIs ring... I picked it up Saturday. It fits perfectly on him and he loves it. Here it is with my e-ring and wedding band.

Here is a pic of the venue. Our bakery was also there, and this looks quite a bit like our cake, except ours will be square, with navy and cornflower blue ribbons, and some designs on each layer:

This is a picture of the arch, we're planning on hanging paper lanterns (navy and white) from it. There will be no tulle or flowers.

This is the area where our ceremony will be. It allows me to be 'hidden' from sight until it's time to walk down the aisle, the other space is a little more out in the open (You can see it in the background of this picture).

So, now for the poll... Should we use the arch in the above setup, or just hang the paper lanterns from the trees and move the table over a little bit?

Still here and still fabulous!

Re: Venue update and FIs ring!

  • I said yes you should use the arch, because from the picture it doesn't look like there are really any lower haning branches. I just thought that it would be best to have the arch.

But your venue is super pretty!!

And I know you said you weren't having tulle on your arch but seeing the tulle blowing in the wind made me think of your veil (if you are wearing one) and that it might be a good idea to have veil weights as a back up for your day in case its really windy!
  • I just love the paper lanterns and think it could be so cute!

  • I voted against using the arbor in favor of using the tree.
I have seen so many gorgeous pics of paper lanterns hanging from trees... its something I would do if my ceremony space was like yours.
  • Whit, I agree. If there were more low-hanging branches, I'd be all over it. I think that's what is making me hold back from ditching the arch altogether.

Harmony, I've seen lots of those pictures, too... I'm just not sure we can pull it off in that space.

BTW - we'll also have some paper lanterns hanging from every other row down the aisle, with white flower petals lining the aisle. Is it March 24 yet??

I back this up as well.
  • I love the idea of the paper laterns.  The venue is really pretty!

  • That's a tough one for me. It is hard to for me to imagine the lanterns and their size. I think I would most likely forgo the arch and utilize more of the greenery and background to your advantange.

I think that is the part that most people are not taking into consideration when making their decision. I love the idea of them hanging from the tree and think it would be beautiful, but I'm not sure that particular tree is built for it. And you are going to have the lanters either way.

But only you have been to the venue and truly know what that tree looks like.
  • Love the rings!!!  And your venue looks soo nice!  It's coming so fast!

  • I like the idea of lanterns better than the arch. The arch would look good as well, but everyone does an arch. The lanterns sound so pretty and different than the norm, which I also like. :)
