Alternatives

to the name Clarkson. My brother wants to name his unborn child Clarkson. I will call it Kelly and made sh*tty mix tapes for it for the rest of it's life. Any ideas for something similar...?

Re: Alternatives

  • I dunno. It's way better than Killian.
  • Clarkson is better than calling the child "it" however...

  • Why does he love that name so much?  Will he call him Clark for short?
  • I think the name of his child should be left up to him and the baby's momma.  Not the baby's aunt.

  • I do not see the problem.  He is allowed to name his baby anything he wants.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I've seen some really stupid names, but still never bothered to be mean about it. Clarkson is definitely a nicer name than some other really, really stupid names. I say let him name his kid whatever he wants. At least he's not hellbent on Lemonjello.
  • I see nothing wrong with the name clarkson. Ditto tide, its his baby, i dont think you get a say until you have your own.
  • You probably shouldn't get involved. If you really hate the name, just come up with a special nickname for him that you use. I have pet names for a lot of my nephews.Oh, and if you want to check out the bump's baby naming tool for shiits and giggles you could enter in the name Clarkson and see what it inspires.
  • I like Clark or Clarkson - either sounds very sophisticated.
  • so he wants to name it after a last name. whatever.some other suggestions:*Smith*Matthews*MacDonald
  • Eh, I heard my nieces name for the first time and immediately started calling her RT (road trip)  It just fit.

  • I'm not trying to dictate anything to him. I just thought I'd help kep the ideas flowing for him. They are still undecided on a name. It's not a terrible name, I know there is much worse out there. The Clark part is the name of his GFs Godmother that is in poor health and likely to pass soon. The middle name they want is also from who has passed away.Just curious if anyone could think of something else with "Clark" in it.
  • I have a (female) friend named Clarke and I love it!  I mentioned it to H for possible future baby names and he said it was like naming a girl Herald.  He didn't like the gender switch.
  • Clarkle! See, it could be worse. I like Clarkson.
  • Clarkbar Clarkrick Clarkdon Clarkle
  • Bec, I am going to suggest Clarkle just to see his face.
  • Just curious if anyone could think of something else with "Clark" in it.What about just "Clark"?
  • Did they ask for help coming up with names? Because I'd find it super annoying if it was solicited.

  • Eh. What does brother's wife want?

  • Clark Griswold.
  • BTW, this is why DH and I aren't discussing our name ideas with *anyone* til the baby is born and named.
  • Well they just found out Wednesay that it's going to be a boy so they are starting to think of names. Our conversation was more like "So have you come up with any names yet? Whitney likes Clarkson, what do you think?"FWIW, his GF shot down other names my brother liked. He wanted to name him Austin but she said no because it reminded her of of a bratty kid she knew. She's a peach.
  • PS: I think my keyboard needs to be cleaned, I don't think I've made a single post that hasn't been filled with typos today!
  • There are way too many Austins right now. One of my nephews is Austin and so is my future stepbrother. It's annoying.

  • I like Parker.
  • I dont see why turning down a name because its the same as someone you dont like makes someone "a peach". Woul dyou want you rkid named the same as someone you disliked?
  • I wouldn't name my kid the same name as someone who irritated me either. I had a friend who refused to let anyone know her baby's name until she was born. I'm beginning to see why she did that.
  • It does seem to be a popular name. My brother liked a few other more common names, but she didn't like any of them. They agreed that if it was a girl, she would pick the name, if it was a boy, my brother would choose the name. The girl would have been named Teeghan. But now that it's a boy, their agreement went out the window and she doesn't like any of his names hah. I think it needs to be mutual decision.
  • I hate when people do that *if it's a girl I'll name if it's a boy you name*.  I think the name should be a mutual decision no matter the gender.
