Ladies,
I rarely share photos but here it goes....
This was my first fitting. The only thing that needs to be adjusted are the shoulders and a bustle hem put in. I was going to have the chapel train removed, but at the fitting my daughter told me she wants my gown for her wedding, and to keep it. Needless to say, I was a bit emotional from that point on.
Did anyone else have that warm and fuzzy feeling at their fitting? I've had issues with my dress, but the more I see it, the more I love how I feel in it.
Let's see those wedding dress pictures and tell me what was the factor in chosing your dress? I picked my dress based on price and that my son and daughter had the "wow" factor when I exited the dressing room.
Re: First Fitting
With my gown - it was all about it feeling like "me." Black detailing was a must and I was pretty set on a Maggie Sottero from the beginning, so it all worked out amazingly well. Below is a photo from both my final fitting and the wedding (Oct. 10). The wedding day had far more cleavage, due to a last minute undergarment change, but we all just had a good laugh about it - and my husband loved it.
Final Fitting - (I designed the sleeves and had them added by my seamstress)
A candid from the wedding (pro shots aren't in, yet)
I won't have my first fitting until early January. My gown is James Clifford Collection J21027 (long story at how we arrived at that), and I am hopeful that it will come in the way it was ordered. It's being shipped directly to me as the salon that I was assigned is closing this week, which makes me a little sad to know. I did get goosebumps when trying on the sample.
Angie - I love, love, LOVE your dress. I am sending good vibes that the dress arrives on time and that its even more beautiful than you remember!
You look amazing in it. Glad the fitings are going well.
[QUOTE]I think we are dress twins! or at the least very similar dresses. I chose it mostly due to price and like you, the way that it feels on. And it makes my girls look awesome and my waist tiny! You look amazing in it. Glad the fitings are going well.

The girls need some help but I love how it makes me HAVE a waist! Photos???
Gorgeous! So glad your first fitting went so well!
Sadly my first fitting did not go as well. I took my 83yr old mother because I thought it would be really nice to have her there and that she could enjoy the experience with me. Well when you have an older parent beware!! She cried about my deceased (gone 4yrs) father almost all the way to the bridal salon. I had to tell her that I wanted to be happy today so she needed to stop talking about him if she was just going to cry. I felt mean but it had to be done.
At the salon when she saw my dress for the first time she said "oh so much lace". Ah yeah that's one of the reasons I loved it. I could so tell she wasn't into it. I started having doubts myself. I then asked her after I took it off what she thought.
And she said with this hopeful tone in her voice "why did you have something elsein mind?" No this is it! This is my dress!
Suffice it to say no matter what your age you want your mothers approval lol.
Guess I didn't get it. Now I have a second fitting next week and I am nervous as all get out because I so afraid the love for my dress has evaporated with my mothers comments.
Do you have any photos? Show US your dress!
My dress(es) are in my bio, link below, under attire, page down. Around the same time I found one dress at a sample sale locally, I got some really cheap silk dipioni with pearls sewn on it ($5 a yard!), and since I've sewn for over 40 years (sssshhhh on the age), had to make my "dream" dress.
Sadly, my daughter is already 6 inches taller than I am, and bigger boned, so she can't wear the one I'm making. If it's going to be an heirloom, I'll have to hope for petite granddaughters some day, LOL.
Congrats on finding "the one".
At 12 my daughter is already 4 inches taller, but I see that as a small miracle. Or in her case, a tall miracle! I was flattered that she liked the style and more than that, she gets it. She gets how happy I am, and how much my FI does for our family. Oh great... I've made myself weepy all over again!
MsB - I had the same reaction with my mom to the original dress I picked. Sadly, H had the same reaction
I tryed on 3 other dresses when I went to the store and that dress is the one that really made me feel like a bride. My 27yr old daughter was with me and loved it on me as well. She even wished she had tried that style of dress when she got married the year before. I was so excited when I left the store that day.
Fast forward 7months with my mother and well you all know the story lol. The thiing is though the dress fits my body shape perfectly. It fits my venue which is an older building built in 1923. It fits our reception which is just a cocktail reception without being over the top.
I love the lace! Its what I wanted. My mother I think was imagining more of a bridal ball gown or something; She told my aunt ,told to me by my sister, that I still haven't changed. When I picked out my first communion dress it was'nt poofy like the other girls. Even then I guess I liked just slim lines. So I guess that is what she is hung up on. I know I just have to go with my gut and not worry about it. Too late anyways!I am getting married in three weeks and 2 days!!
Sorry I don't know how to do a picture, but below is the style # Davids Bridal. Let me know what you girls think.
MsB - can't get link.
What color did you get it in? It's a very lovely gown and I'm sure you look gorgeous in it. I love the slimmer lines as well.
[QUOTE]I love, love, love that neckline. It is extremely flattering on you. Congrats on a great fitting! What a great dress. Yay!

Thank you, Lisa. It's not easy finding a non strapless wedding gown! Have you gone shopping for dresses? What styles are you looking at?
[QUOTE]We used the word "sadly" 4 times in this thread MsB - can't get link.
