  What a beautiful dress!  I don't think you need any crinoline with it at all.  It looks like it's supposed to hang freely, and doesn't need anything to puff it out (which is what crinoline does).  I think you'll be fine with a regular slip, or even just regular undergarments if your dress is well-lined.

  Yeah, when I tried it on, it seemed like it could work either way. It also seemed like I'd be pulling it from between my legs all night.  Plus I like the idea of it poofing out a bit.

  You could look for something like this elsewhere, and might be able to save some money, but $49 is pretty good.    If it's too poofy you might be able to cut a layer out of it.
