This is my dress...what sort of crinoline?

Hello Ladies!  I've attached the link to the photo of my dress.  I want to get a crinoline, but I'm not sure what kind.  The gown's description says "trumpet" but for some reason it didn't feel like it fit that way.  Maybe it was b/c it was a couple sizes too big and it will fit more like that after alterations?

  • What a beautiful dress!  I don't think you need any crinoline with it at all.  It looks like it's supposed to hang freely, and doesn't need anything to puff it out (which is what crinoline does).  I think you'll be fine with a regular slip, or even just regular undergarments if your dress is well-lined.

My dress is VERY similar to yours (pic below), and I don't plan on wearing a crinoline or slip.

  • Thank you!  I can't wait for it to come in!  Yours is also lovely.

Yeah, when I tried it on, it seemed like it could work either way. It also seemed like I'd be pulling it from between my legs all night.  Plus I like the idea of it poofing out a bit.

  • In that case, maybe something like this?

You could look for something like this elsewhere, and might be able to save some money, but $49 is pretty good.    If it's too poofy you might be able to cut a layer out of it.

  • Ok, that's the one I was looking at.  I guess I will just have to try to two on together and see how it looks!

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
