Weekend report

We spent a lovely anniversary weekend at this place:http://www.shakervillageky.org/It was beautiful.  Our attic room wouldn't have been so comfy in the summer, but it was perfect this weekend.  I even fit in a little SS shopping while I was there.  Someone might be getting a bonnet in the mail.

Re: Weekend report

  • I checked out the website. We're looking for a cool place to send the ILs for a couple of days. (FIL did a LOT for us this year, so we're going extravagant with their Xmas gift...)They're definitely your classic plain midwestern types, but somehow they're willing to drive all over the place to see new sights.  I had thought about Big Cedar, but it seems to be a fancy resort dressed up like a rustic place.  Would shaker village be appropriate for 60-somethings who mostly just like to chill and look at vegetation?  MIL would probably like the country-esque shopping. I'm sure there are some stunning quilts she'd love to look at.  But it's supposed to be primarily for FIL, so I'm not sure...

  • DG, Big Cedar is nice, but I think it's kinda boring in general.  We've gone there for their food and wine festival, which is a blast, but I always thought that just the resort was blah.
  • Yes, it would be a great place for chilling and looking at vegatation.  I would like to go back and spend the day with a book, but DH was wanting to get out and drive around the area, see some things in Lexington, etc.  This place is closer to them and although I have never been there, DH has been a few times and raves about it as a very relaxing place:  http://www.newharmonyinn.com/index.php
