  • I had leftover noodles and some kielbasi to get rid of random leftovers in the fridge. I LOVE berries - black, rasp, straw, blue. MMmmm. I forget my reusable bags all. the. time. Recycle like mad, use the energy saving bulbs, turn off lights when I'm not in rooms. Go to the store with a list and stick to it. I fail at this.
  • 1. For lunch I'll probably have a ham and cheese sandwich and potato chips. 2. strawberry 3. Don't recycle, I throw paper and plastic into the garbage can. 4. The only thing I can think of is recycling cans. 5. Best money saving tip is buying store-brand food and not eat out, although I'm guilty of eating out every weekend.

  • I had a couple of bites of mashed potatoes so I could take some more medicine. I haven't been hungry all day. Stupid effing cold.StrawI drive an SUV 130 miles a day to/from work.We recycle everything (paper, alumninum, plastic, and compost). We use cloth napkins and towels instead of paper. We never use paper/plastic plates, silverware, or cups. We carpool when we can. We use those spiral-y lightbulbs (I have NO idea what they're actually called). We reuse a lot of our food storage containers (ziplocks, disposable tupperware, even foodsaver bags).Be as self-sufficent with food as possible. I make a lot of my own stuff when I can (bread, for example, costs about $.50 to make a 2lb. loaf, whereas it could cost up to $4 to buy that in the store). I freeze veggies and fruit from my garden/orchard and use fresh herbs when I can. I make jams and salsas that cost a fraction of what we would spend in the store. I also plan out my meals a week in advance and cook things with similar ingredients so things don't go to waste - so, if I need half a box of chicken stock for a recipe, I'll make sure I find another recipe that uses the other half so it doesn't go bad. I also buy things up (that won't go bad and we use often) when they're on sale, and store them in my pantry or basement. It cuts the cost of the item itself, plus we end up only going to the grocery store 1 time a month (which saves us gas money since the store is 30+ miles away).

  • I just had leftover sloppy joe shepherd's pie. Strawberries.  I like the flavor of blackberries, but the seeds annoy me.I drink bottled water at work.  I also toss the water bottles. Someone collects the soda cans (they get $$ for them, but not the water bottles). If I take one home, it goes into recycling.  I'm fairly haphazard about recycling at home, too, I confess. I try.We have the container, and I do carry the bottles and cans out.  We recycle the boxes packages come in, too. We don't dump grass clippings, does that count?Buy generic OTC stuff, unless you've noticed a difference. For example, generic nasal decongestant (phenylepherine) is about $2; name brand Sudafed is $5 or $6.

  • Mac and cheeseStrawI don't recycle as much as I shouldDrive a not-gas guzzling car, and ride my bike whenever possibleIf you think you really want something that you don't really need, walk away from it for an hour.  If you're still thinking about it, then consider getting it.
  • Macaroni & cheese. Blueberries. I drive more than I should & don't always recycle. Live in the city & in a small-ish house so that I use less energy & don't travel by car as much as most folks. When you want to buy something wait 24 hours at least before pulling the trigger. And never/rarely buy new cars.
  • oh yeah.. St Thomas does not have good recycle program down here or I would recycle more than I do.

I'm pretty awful at this, I know this isn't really the answer you were looking for but the only way I have any money in my savings account at all is I have it set up to automatically deduct 200 bi-weekly from my checking into my savings, I hardly ever notice it being taken out. And at the end of the month without even trying I save 400 bucks.

  • Lunch: I started my healthier eating plan today, so instead of the normal Chicken & Bacon Ranch on flatbread @ Subway, I got the Sweet Onion Teriyaki on 9-grain Wheat w/cukes, tomatoes, & red onion (no cheese). I was a little disappointed, to be honest. Oh well. Berry: Strawberries, and I'm trying to eat more blueberries lately. Bad for environment: I get plastic shopping bags. I re-use them in my little trashcans, but they still eventually end up in the trash. Good for the environment: I recycle every can and/or plastic bottle I drink out of. Money saving tip: have a set amount of money directly depostied into your savings account, so that you never even "see" it in your checking.
