Coworker etiquette

My wedding will be on Jan30th.  It's going to be really nice, I can't wait!!!  But it's also going to be very small, only our very closest family and friends/30 - 40 guests at the very most.I work in a small office with only 5 people and that includes our boss.  I'm beginning to think that my coworkers are assuming that they're being invited to the wedding.  I don't talk much about the wedding at work, just because I don't feel close enough with my coworkers to talk about it with them.  There's no hard feelings between us, we're just very different types of people.  But just in case, I started talking a little more about it whenever I can and casually mentioning that it's going to be very small, only family and the very closest friends.  Do you all think that's good enough?  I don't need to have some formal conversation with them about why we're not inviting them do I?  I don't think that I do.  I think that would be too much as I doubt that any of them are dying to come to our wedding anyway.  FI is thinking that maybe I should have a talk/talk with them just to make sure that there's no hard feelings.  I'm dreading the thought of that.  I really, really doubt that they want to come anyway.

Re: Coworker etiquette

  • No I don't think you do either. People shouldn't just assume that they are invited to a wedding and if they do and then they are upset about not being asked, then that's on them.

  • They'll know they're not invited when they don't get an invitation.  Don't worry about it unless they ask you outright.

  • No reason for a big talk. I'm sure they'll understand when they don't get an invite, especially if it's such a small wedding.
  • no, i think casually mentioning that you are having a small wedding with only family and close friends should do the trick.
  • Whew!!  Thanks for your support.  I think FI is worrying about things more than I am!
