Hey girls need your help

I have a friend who said he would DJ my wedding. He does it for a living and I know he's awesome at it. When I asked him how much he said he'd leave it up to me bc he wants to help us out. I don't want to give him not enough, so i'm wondering how much you all paid or are going to pay??? Thanks for the help!

$1100 for 1 hour keys at cocktail + 4 hours keys/DJ/soloist reception -- no games, giveaway nonsense, stuck to my playlist and real muscians.  i think it was a steal.

A friend is doing ours too and we are paying $800 for everything he usually does at every other wedding.

Our DJ was awesome and he was friends with my dad so we paid him $850.

it kinda sucks he left it 'up to you' because of course you love having the deal but don't want to look cheap... can you find out somehow what he charges and maybe pay him a %?  like 65-75% of normal rates?

I would INSIST he comes up with a price. It's just too awkward otherwise. You don't want to low ball him, but at the end of the day he is kind of doing you a favor.

I have a friend who is playing guitar at our ceremony and he kept asking "how much I wanted to pay" I refused and insisted he tell me. I did not want to low ball him as Tiff said.

If he wasnt doing it what would your music/entertainment budget have been. If he is leaving it up to you it should be a mix of not low balling him and not killing your budget to avoid a low ball number. Id probably give him around $1000 and tip any assistants he has with him if any around $100-150.
